when i rang my local EB games store they said that the wiis were out of stock but if i put in a 40 dollar deposit i was gauranteed to get one in the next shipment which is one week away.
just wondering what are your top five recommendable games that i should get? (appart from zelda obviously)
If you like MP or mini-games get Rayman: Raving Rabbids. If you like racing get Excite Truck (not too many racers out now and at least you can use custom soundtrack with this one). I'd also pick up Super Swing Golf if you like Golf in any way. Red Steel is a pick up if you like FPS (I don't have it). The rest I'd take a look at othe game reviews and see what you think.
if you like mini-games, i'd pass on rayman and get super monkey ball. i definately wanted another rayman platformer, but i decided to give it a fair chance anyway b/c of the reviews i read. when i rented it, rayman just didn't impress me. it was alright, but i just don't enjoy mini-games for the sake of mini-games. super monkey ball has a solid main game to go along w/ it's 50 mini-games. definately a return to the type of gameplay that super monkey ball I and II had, rather than super monkey ball adventure (pure crap).
obviously zelda should be at the top of your list. if you get any game, get it. if your specifically looking for a fps, get red steel. but if not, i'd wait till the price drops. it's a solid game (much better than it's reviews), but it does have a good deal of room for improvement (particularly w/ the swordplay and cut-scenes that can't be skipped).
if you like katamari or pikmin, i'd pick up elebits. the story's a little weak, but the gameplay is a lot of fun... from capturing small creatures to throwing houses and vehicles. other than zelda, it is the best wii game out right now in my opinion.
super swing golf looks cool, but i think i'm gonna wait to get the next mario golf, whenever that comes out (why hasn't it been anounced... the wiimote is just begging for another installment???).
i'd also suggest pre-ordering wii play, since for $50 you get both wii play and a free controller. essentially, that's $10 for wii play.
and remember that if you have gamecube controllers, you can still play those games on the wii. if you don't feel strongly about purchasing a wii game but want something new (at least to you), look into some gamecube games you never got a chance to play. you can pick up most gamecube games for $20 or less (even if you get them new, but definately if you get the used).

I keep seeing people say good things about excite truck and then bad things and then good things and then bad things. I'm so torn and I'm really on the fence about getting it. I almost bought it yesterday but changed my mind at the last moment. Now I see it in your top five for him to get. OMG, what should I do??? I came here to help him but now I'm helpless...lol.
I'm just going to try to get a Wii without a reserve, our GameStop said they get them in every week anyways...
Excite Truck is good for what I played of it at a demo setup, pretty good game, only problems I've heard is that it's short, and more Gamecube-esque graphics, but what Wii game isn't Gamecube-esque right now.
I only had the chance to play Excite Truck for about 5 or 10 minutes but I found it really exciting and quite easy to play. I also love the custom soundtrack option as well. I don't mind the graphics and you are absolutely right about that DaDillsta. Maybe I will pick it up.

MP3 and SMG and SSBB will be the best games on the Wii until the new Zelda comes out.
No one mentioned Elebits. I think that's a great game. Fun, satisfying, and not a huge time commitment. The longest levels are 20min long. That's what I like about Trauma Center as well, although the levels are considerably harder and more intense.
