I was thinking, I believe when Super Punchout came out with Mike Tyson, that after he was accused of rape they released a new version. This version had a guy who was white and the same exact setup as Tyson but a white guy and a different head. I read about it once, and was curious which version you expect to see released on the VC?
I am hoping its the real Mike Tysons Punchout, not the redone version?
I thought Mike Tyson's Punchout came after Super Punchout. For the character in the end it doesn't really matter to me as long as they have all the old classics in it. I think I can still remember all the old tricks to beat them!
Umm, "Super Punch Out!!" was on the SNES, "Punchout!!" and "Mike Tyson's Punchout!!" were NES. Punch Out was on the Arcade first (early-mid 80's) and only had 6 characters (no tyson or mr. dream). Mike Tyson's Punch Out came to the NES in '87 I believe. I think it was around 1990 when Punch Out!! came out on the NES with Tyson being replaced by Mr. Dream. (I still remember getting it for Christmas either '90 or '91, I was stoked and big time into the Rocky movies, before #5 was made) I also prefer the Mr. Dream version (although it wasn't always this way), Tyson doesn't fit in with an assembly of cartoon characters (although todays Tyson would be right at home in a punchout type game.
(Looking it up on Wiki) Tyson wasn't removed for the rape conviction, he was removed over a contract dispute and his loss to Buster Douglas.
oops my bad, I meant NES Punchout, and how tyson was taken off it. I just recalled reading tyson punchout took him off for the rape stuff, but maybe it was BS since you say it was a dispute and loss to Buster! Makes sense!
Even then...do u think the VC one will not have tyson then?
i dont think nintendo will bother making a deal with Tyson when they can just release the later version
If they make a new Punchout with Tyson there will be Roofies and rolls of duct tape included in a bonus fatality.
If any of the Punch-Out's go to the VC, rest assured they're gonna go with Super Punch-Out. That one was the BEST by far. MT P-O was great though...fighting The Tiger was a pain in the ar$S!
Mr. Dream fights just the same way as Tyson did in the game, so it wouldn't be TOO much of a stretch if they bring out Punch-Out!! to VC. =P
Super PunchOut! was awesome, I still remember some of the people, Gabby Jay, and Bear Hugger.
Yeah, I was also thinking of Punch Out as coming before Mike Tyson's punch out. I played Punch Out more than Super Punch Out and liked the characters better. Maybe for the reason of playing it first.
i remember playing those games. the good old days. i remember tyson couldn't be beaten
No Tyson was beatable...you could only land a punch whenever he blinked.
Yeah, you could beat him just had to hit and not get hit (boxing normally works that way anyway) but with Tyson one hit = knockdown/knockout.
wow, i nvr knew that. that makes me want to play it now
Tyson/Dream were beatable, but I never took the time to do it. I did get Tyson all the way down to a knockdown, then in my excitement proceeded to get knocked the eff out with a few timely blows.
Super Macho Man was the guy I always had the most trouble with (besides tyson/dream). On nintendo it seemed you could dodge 3-4 spins of his punch and still get tagged despite not changing the frequency of your dodging. Tiger is easy, just block.
Let's see if I can remember the cast of Super:
Gabby Jay, Bear Hugger, Piston Hurricane, Bald Bull, Dragon Chan, Bob Charley, Masked Muscle, Mr. Sandman, Aaron Ryan, Narcis Prince, Mad Clown, Hoy Carlo, Super Macho Man, Nick and Rick Bruiser. (Looked up on Wiki: Forgot Heike Kagero -never liked him-, also have some spelling and order errors)
Try Punch Out (minus repeat fights): Glass Joe, someone, Piston Honda, Don Flamenco, King Hippo, Great Tiger, Bald Bull, Soda Popinski, Mr. Sandman, Super Macho Man, Tyson/Dream. (someone=Von Kaiser) Not too bad, haven't played PO in a few years.
My only hope is if they make a Wii Punch Out, that they use two wii motes instead of the wii-mote/nunchuk combo. The nunchuk isn't nearly as responsive as the wii-mote.
