UPDATE: What does Microsoft have to say about this? Not much -- but it's not a straight up no comment.

"We have seen all types of claimed leaked photos like this show up online and as a standard policy we don't comment on speculative items."
ORIGINAL STORY: When it comes to hardware, Microsoft hasn't been the best at keeping secrets, which is why we're inclined to believe Engadget may have legitimately been leaked a picture of an impending revision to the Xbox 360 hardware, reportedly codenamed "Zephyr" (for reference, the original 360 was dubbed "Xenon").

Murmurings of an Xbox 360 upgrade have lingered for some time, with the general consensus being it was a matter of when, not if, Microsoft would announce the details. Engadget's source claims Zephyr includes a cooler 65nm processor that should reduce noise, a 120GB hard drive, which would make space for HD movies a thing of the past, and an HDMI port for full-fledged 1080p support -- a feature not currently possible via component cables.

And the price? Fat chance Microsoft will actually increase it, so it wouldn't be surprising to see the Core to receive a price drop, the Premium to adapt the Core's price and Zephyr to arrive at $399.99.

We've poked Microsoft about the picture, but they've yet to issue a response. CES wouldn't exactly be a bad time to announce this, though.
