What is the default Warranty that the Wii comes with, and is there an extended warranty that you can purchase through Nintendo? If there is a Nintendo extended warranty, do you think it is better than the Best Buy warranty that you can buy for like $60-$80?
P.S. I am on my 3rd Xbox 360, but luckily I bought the MS extended warranty.
Thanks!
If you register your Wii online you get a bonus 90 day extension on your warranty.
1 year through nintendo, and as mentioned bonus 90 days for registerring. BB warranty is a rip off (as most warranties are). Buy another game or controller instead.
On a side note, being in a manufacturing setting, why don't companies make quality products rather than make crap that will junk out on them in a year or so? Oh yeah, to make people buy the same crap over and over again. Gotta hate what outsourcing has done to goods in the US. (cheap componants, drive initial cost down, drive quality down, increase long term cost, dramatically decrease the life of products).
I got a warranty on mine through EBgames, just because with new electronics and especially with someone as new as the Wii, I didn't wanna take a chance...I've been happy though, nothing has gone wrong with it thus far.
I've never bought a warranty for a Nintendo product myself. I've also never had a problem with something from them either, though. Nintendo tends to do a better job than most at making sure things work well. My PS3 has a warranty though, that's for sure! Most things now-a-days tend to last considerably longer than they did years ago (so much for Harmonica's theory). But, when you have products that deal with millions of units (like video game systems) and a lot of the people who own them don't always take the best care of them because mommy and daddy will just buy them a new one when something happens, you get over-sensationalization when things do go awry. Granted, there's always products that have issues, but that's how things work when you're dealing with new technologies...some work, some don't.
Look at it this way: If you had to save up the $250 to get the Wii, you might want to get the warranty. If you have plenty of discretionary funds, take the gamble.
