Hello all
I was thinking today that the name Wii has really grown on me and now that i look back at when the big N first anonced that the name would be WII i was not happy.... i was pissed off in fact...
Eny ways, i just wanted to see if enyone out there still hates the name or if anyone completley loves it now!
I'll admit, the name could have been much better, but the name of the system isn't why you buy a console. It should be bought because of the playability and fun factors of the system.
I could care less about the name Wii now. I do remember I was pissed when they changed it to that, though. But I'm actually kind of glad they changed it. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to write that awesome parody to "We Will Rock You," and I wouldn't be able to say "Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!"
Everyone was edgy at the time because it was the first real news in forever, and we didn't yet know just how much ass it would end up kicking. I still think the name could be better but like NBbowler said in the end a name won't make or break a console.
I actually like it now, revolution is too long, and sounds very geeky, Wii is sheek, like the iPod brand. I still feel wierd saying it out loud to new people though.
Wii works great for the system I feel. The name is great for marketing, and can be used in a plethora of advertising angles.
Revolution, in my opinion was way too cliche and the word itself these days is kind of bogus if you ask me. With it being worn down in redundancy through cRAP music, not to mention all the retards out there that think they're great at whatever they're doing and call their movement or statement a "revolution", while in the grand scheme they're a turd.

I actually prefer Wii to Revolution. Revolution just sounds like it's been said or done before with so many products and lacks imagination. Wii took some imagination to come up with. It's easy to say, remember, and sticks in your mind. Just look at XBox and PS3, same name with a different number tacked on. Lack of imagination.

gotta love that Nintendo innovation. though, I guess this didn't really start until the gamecube, but at least it wasn't NES, NES2, NES3, etc. we got things like SUPER! and 64! (and the number actually MEANT something, remember that? wtf is 360 supposed to be? look, we turned in a circle! whee!!!)

I like it. It's like a huge guy, that could knock you out, being named fluffy. A totally kick-ass console that knows how fabulous it is, and can get away with kinda a sissy name.
Also, who didn't like sexual innuendo on launch?

I never heard the end of those lame Wii jokes from my dad. He still does it, too.
I just laugh my butt off at the Sony fanboys. Their system is doing so pitifully, while the Wii is smashing the competition into tiny little pieces.
Wii is stupid. They should have come up with something cool like GameCube360 or SNES3! =P

I didn't know what to think of the name. I just mainly focused on what the Wiii can do. So I didn't care what the console's name was I just wanted to get it! (still need it..!!! @_@)
i like my wii but i dont love it yet...
I love it. Wii is the best to pick for it.
