Final Fantasy XII is already knocking the socks off of role-playing fans on both sides of the Pacific Ocean. The game has so far sold 4 million copies worldwide since its March launch in Japan and its October launch in the US. It garnered a rare perfect score from Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, and for the late October US launch day, Square Enix shipped 1.5 million units to retail--the largest day-one availability for any game in the publisher's history.

Now Europe knows when it will have a chance to see what all the fuss is about. The latest title in the hugely popular role-playing game series has been given a European launch date of February 23. The PlayStation 2 game features a totally revamped battle system from previous installments and boasts more than 70 hours of gameplay, "if the player doesn't stray too far from the beaten path."

Set in a world called Ivalice against the backdrop of war, FFXII tells the story of a young orphan named Vaan who dreams of escaping life on the streets and piloting his own airship. The boy teams up with Princess Ashe, the sole surviving heir to her family's kingdom, who was thought to have died a long time ago on an epic quest across the land.

A spokesperson for Square Enix confirmed that there would be midnight launch events for the title, but had no further details at this time.

Oh Square, I'm sorry... you screwed up again.

Like with KH2... like with Dirge of Cerberus. I will not be buying this title as you don't deserve my money.

I will only rent.

Take joy PAL gamers, the mighty Square has decided to turn their head to us! Wooooo!
^-- that was a sarcastic comment

i know, i'm some kinda "noob", but what does PAL consist of? i know it's an area(s) that companies release products, like Americas, but i have no idea what it consists of. i'm guessing Europe by the article and Australia since Lemon's pissed. is it more detailed or more to it?
PAL = Europe.

I'm "pissed" because we have had to wait a few extra months. Its quite lacklustre on Square's behalf.

So I will not be purchasing this game, only renting.
It happens with mostly every game that comes out by Square you always get it late, shouldn't you be used to it by now? lol.

You shouldnt rent, you should buy, this game will take up A LOT of your time, then you will be stupid not buying it.
not really, unless there's a lot of replay, there's no real reason to buy many games. rent it, beat it, move on to the next

that is pretty bad that they're delaying it so much for "PAL." though, i guess to translate to the dozen different languages in Europe would take awhile. why would they delay so long for Australia though then? last i checked, Aussies still spoke English, atleast some form of it

"barby. torch=flashlight. lift=elevator" you folks down under crack my stuff up Big Grin lol
I never rent and abuse, I usually buy if I know I will like the game. But A game like Final fantasy XII, you cant beat in A week or two.
I bet I can beat it in a few days.

Hell if I can beat games like KH, KH2 and TP in like 3 days then it'll be cheaper to rent than buy.

Plus Square doesn't deserve my money.
You dont know the length of FFXII, I have 50 hours and about Close to halfway done the game.
I'll do a speed run. Story is the main thing I'll be after in it.
Speed Runs FTL, My first run through any game is always my best game...sometimes.
So, less than a month.

I lose anticipation... someone hype me back up for this game.
Here's a summon, and you can check out the others in the "Realated" tab.

I don't know if this'll really hype you up, but it shows how big and hard some of the bosses are.

Not too bad, I will probably rent it still though.
You'd probably do well with renting it. You probably won't beat it in the time span though. Cities are freakin' annoyingly huge and they put random strong enemies here and there that take you buy surprise when you die. <_<
Haha, awesome. Well, if I need to rent it more than four times I'll have to buy it.
I don't think ANY games takes four rentals. It'll probably use up 2 or 3.
Then I'll be right. I finished 100% KH2 in 2 and a half rentals, but that game was insanely easy.
Two and a half? That game was just long, with no difficulty. I'm talking about if you grind, day in and day out, you'll get it in 2-3 rentals. Minimum of 5-6 hours a day. FFXII is long and hard... Like an iron pole. =D
Thats how I work a rental, from when I wake up, til when I go to sleep I play the game.
Yeah, then two or three rentals should be fine. Maybe. <_<
