Sega's stock goes up and Microsoft tries to buy them? Sounds unlikely to me but I wouldn't doubt it...

Source
If this and the Capcom rumor turn out to be true we'll all be almost forced into buying the next generation Xbox.
Doubt it'll happen. But I am not affected if they do.
The stock soared because of the rumor. Of course MS will deny it; admitting it would cause the stock to increase more, costing MS more to purchase them. MS is in terrible need of some exclusives, as winning over former Sony exclusives is not enough if they want to go head to head with Nintendo. The big N has so many exclusives made in house that MS can't steal.
While games that are considered Sony exclusives eventually find their way somewhere else through a port or spin off title. Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, and Grand Theft Auto just to name a few.

I disagree, the Gamecube didn't have even enough in house titles last generation to beat the original Xbox. MS really wants to take the cake here, and that's what they're doing.

Nintendo had a lot of exclusives.

All the Mario games. The Zelda games. The Metroid Games. Smash. F-Zero. Starfox. They count as exclusives.
OF course they count as exclusives because Nintendo holds the rights to them.

This console war is pretty brutal, it looks more to me like a helpless insect lying on it's back. Microsoft feels threatened by Nintendo, Sony is losing exclusives. The best way for MS to eliminate Nintendo as it's competition would be to pluck the bug of all of its limbs, or buy out as many 3rd party developers as possible. For Nintendo to only stick to Nintendo exclusives is a bad marketing tool, because it will only ever attract Nintendo fans. With the projected sales of Wii's being at around 20 million now, it's not unlikely that MS might try buying out SEGA and Capcom. Which is why I was saying before that Nintendo should buy the rights to SEGA titles. But of course I get burned for it because, oh I'm just a "fanboy". Laughable, if this rumor holds to be true, I'll be the first to fart in a can and mail it out to all the nay sayers.
As long as Microsoft doesn't get Capcom I couldn't care less about this rumour.

Still, didn't help GCN sales.

pizzaturdell, the wii sold about 3 million so far, the Xbox 360, about 11 million. You're numbers are off.

sc7 I'm not saying they sold that many already, which is why I said PROJECTED sales. It's my wrong for not including projected in 2007. I was linked to an article yesterday where it had stated something along those lines. When I find it again I'll source it out.

All that I have so far is that Wii is expected to hit 10 million + units at the end of this year. However, those are based off of Enterbrain's predictions from October. Like I said, when I find yesterday's article I'll link it.

Had more in house titles than Microsoft.

We can thank Halo 1 & 2 for a large chunk of XBox sales, flame me if you wish but I'd say its close to accurate. I'm mainly getting an XB360 for Halo 3.

Nintendo needs all the support it can get. If Microsoft were able to purchase Capcom and Sega then it would be a blow to Nintendo. Not sure if it would be a mortal blow or not but it would indeed hurt. My greatest fear for the Wii is lack of 3rd party support, which looks good at the moment *ManaBurnX knocks on wood because there is a lot of interest/buzz surrounding the Wii and I hope it continues.
NOOOO! NOT SEGA, TOO!!! D:
