Ok, do you have to have a "nintendo liscensed" SD card to save stuff on it, or can you buy just any old SD card to save stuff (cause i'd rather spend $30 than $40-60).
they just want more money, so they slap a nintendo name on the card and ask for more.

Much more in fact. I was kind of taken aback by the price.
The Nintendo cards won't be any better than other SD cards you buy. Just make sure to check the speed of the card. Can come in handy when transfering big video files. Just a thought.
Ebay is good source. I picked up a new 1GB SanDisk for $20...and that was after shipping. Just make sure you're getting a US compatible one. Most are, but not all. I was finding 2GB for under $40.
If you're willing to play the rebate game, I just picked up a 1 GB FAR at buy.com. I think they're sold out now (at least I can't find them, and they claimed to be in short supply when I got the flyer e-mail from them), but if you keep your eyes open I'm sure you can find a similar deal. Kingston seems to like to do big rebates on their cards (I have a 512 MB too that I picked up cheap AR a few years ago).
newegg.com has a 1GB for $14.
I've seen several Sunday store ads for 1GB for $20 and even $5 to $15 after rebate. 2GB has been as low as $25 after rebates or $30 with no rebates.
newegg now has a 2gb for $17
but my $50 1 GB card has a Wii sticker on it...so its cooler right? right? hello...

Absolutely. However, since no one ever sees the card once it is inside, I figured I'd go with the less cool 3rd party. Yes, I'm lame.
