Hello.

As most of you know, I am an owner of both an Xbox 360, and a Wii. I enjoy playing video games very much. I'll first state that my Wii will never go anywhere, and I will never get rid of it (at least durring this generation), and that it will always remain one of the two consoles I own. However, between Sony and MS, there aren't enough exclusives for me to justify the cost of keeping and operating two systems.

Last March, I purchased a Premium Xbox 360 console from Toys R' Us website. So far my relationship with it has been so-so. The hardware, I must say, is quite pitiful. While the system does have a nice appearance (which is still bested by the PS3), it operates like complete and utter crap. The buttons on the console feel loose, and the drive no longer operates when it is vertical. The back of the console is half closed, and it operates loud, especially when a game DVD-9 disc is in. (360 only. Xbox games are relatively quiet). It also runs hot (which is fine).

The games: Gears of War is pretty good, Halo 3 looks nice, but honestly, I wasn't that big of a fan of Halo 2. After this, anyhow, there will be no more halo. Other than that, there's not many exclusives that I really want from this console. Oblivion, the only game I purchased that I really liked so far, is coming to the PS3. DOA 4 will be bested by VF5.

PS3, resistance, I love it, plus theres FFXIII, KHIII, MGS IIII and so many other great legacy games that continue to come on. I also think in the end, with SIXAXIS and the power of the PS3 it will be better overall in terms of game quality. Let's not forget free online vs Pay online.

Hardware: 360 is pretty limited in terms of what it can do. To bring it up to PS3 level would require the purchase of an HD-DVD drive for movie standards. However, Blu-Ray is undoubtedly far more advanced, ahead in terms of movie releases, and ultimately, the format I really want. It also has better media managing systems and things like free web browsers and whatnot. It seems like it will be better in that respect, plus lack MS-DRM. The PS3 runs quiet, and also has expansion capibilities. For example, being a geek, I'd love to install an OS on my console. I would put it to good use. Additionally, the backwards compatibility on the PS3 is far superior to that of the Xbox 360. Let's not forget HDMI, card readers, and built in wi-fi.

Zephyr: As it seems almost confirmed, that means I will have to shell out more money for a new 360, and although with trading in my 360 for this will be less, it pisses me off. I really feel ripped by Microsoft to do this and I really don't know that I want to, even though it has HDMI which I can use, and HD-DVD built in.

So as you've seen what may feel like a justification for trading in my 360 (for $220), and getting a PS3, it's just my recent thoughts on the issue, I don't want to start a debate, I want honest input where I can truthfully discuss these and new thoughs about such a switch (the opposing views, should they exist). I hope fanboyism can stay out of this, and I can achieve my ultimate goal of picking what is right. I cannot justify having both consoles, nor afford it, so I must pick only one.

With all this in mind, thank you for your help and input, I look forward to making a move.

im not anit-ps3 or anything but i think that you shouldnt do it honestly. heres why

1) the money $220 is just way to little especially since you just bought it last year

2) you said that the online for ps3 was free, i read somewhere that the playstation network will have like 3 types of subsctiptions, one is for the store and is free to access but you have to pay to buy things, two is for some games that will be free to play online (probably the crappier to mediocre ones) , and three to play the top games youll have to pay for a subscribtion. Im pretty sure i read this somewhere, but i could be very wrong!  And plus xbox live > playstation network, sorry but its true.

3)Many game devs really want to pull away from the ps3 due to its low units sold, and costlyness to make HD-BLURAY games. This has already started to some extent, but sony is trying to hold on to them and stop this from happening! so things could get real bad for sony.

well thats the reasons why i think you should stick with your 360 but in the end its your decision, i hope ive helped yo out a little tho.
what exactly is there to discuss? you've made up your mind.
Just get $220 for your xbox and buy something worthy.
Well if I were you I'd keep it and save up for a PS3 another way.

All 3 consoles are going to rock.
Craziness. At this point I wouldn't trade my Game Boy Colour for a PS3 (ok...maybe I would). Xbox 360 has by far the best games coming out in 2007. The only problem I'm having with my 360 is figuring out how I'm going to be able to afford it all.

P.S. I think VF5 is also coming out on 360.
my friend has both 360 and ps3 and he never uses the ps3. most ps2 games are not compatible with the ps3 and blu ray movies are more expensive that hd dvds
Keep your 360, online is the best around.

I don't dislike Sony the PS2 was great, but I dislike the PS3 I gave it a fair try and it just wasn't that great. Only change was better graphics.

Plus the 360 has those great graphics and I find it all around better. keep your 360 dude! keeeep it.
Yea, the more I look at it, I realize the 360 is the dominant force. It's future releases are looking that much better, and a well better suited system. Let's also not forget cost, and the fact that Blu-ray really means very little to me.

Thanks for the replies, I guess I'll keep my 360.
Wait for lots of price drops on PS3, by that stage it'll have games worth buying besides Resistance.
...*mumble*if the games are ever worth your money*mumble*...

Did you hear something? Toungue
My friend has the Wii60 combo and he loves it. He plays them both equally and for two different reasons of course. If I got another system besides the Wii then I'd go with the Xbox360. Just my opinion. I love the FF series too but can't see myself buying any system for just one or two games. I want to get as much out of the system as possible.
I am a Wii60 guy myself. I have to say its a great combination.

With the Wii I have access to all the classic games of the past 20 years, not to mention killer apps that are coming solely to Nintendo's console.

With the 360, I have great looking games, excellent online multiplayer, and a great online system in XBL (demos, movies, tv, trailers, etc.).

Not to mention that many formerly exclusive titles of the PS3 are coming to the 360...
I'd probably get the 360 too if I were to get a second console.
