Well, it wouldn't be as action packed, but players could take the non-traditional role of the supplier. For example, creating/building up your own ranch for horses, so that players who learn (or want to learn) can purchase horses from you, as well as the necessary equipment.

Perhaps there could be rare breeds out in the wild, and you could hire adventurers to find them and bring them to you for training (ie: to be broken, but it sounds so mean). The same idea could be applied to a shipyard.

Perhaps there could be something like outpost buiding? Claiming a piece of land in hostile country with a few villagers, setting up primitive walls and towers and defending it until supplies arrive, building it up economically and defensively. Along those lines, they could add a "siege" mode where cities get attacked by creatures at random moments, and any players inside can elect to help (I think they did that with either guild wars or ffXI.

Anyway, just some thoughts.
i definatly agree but i think they would have to change the title of it.... i mean it wouldnt really be a Legend of Zelda game if you didnt "really" involve her or link... because to most fans LOZ is playing as Link and going balls out in an RPG that is enjoyable to them.... but if the same company was to make this game with all the characters from the LOZ games all they'd have to do is come up with a different name that had some relation to the other LOZ games

..... did i just slightly confues myself or wha?
This is a friggin' brilliant idea, and I congragulate the one who thought of it. It would also be pretty kewl ta have a keyboard peripheral to talk to other players, but that could spawn typekillers- and I hate typekillers.

Also, I think the idea of having different races available (Hylian, Gerudo, Zora, Goron, Deku, Sheikah, Korok, Rito, and the different gods- Valoo, Jabu-Jabu, and the dudes that teach you those songs on the WW) is kewl too. Oh- on naval combat you could send out a Zora to sabbatage* the enemy ships.

It would be uber awesome to have a kind of capture the flag mode where you could choose where to place your base for environmental (dis)advantages- like putting it on the dead end of a narrow mountain pass and have your bulkiest and most powerful Goron protect it (and maybe a Stealth Gerudo hidden in the shadows to provide stinging projectile support).

I like the idea of owning your own buisness, too, like spending the first month or so of your game exploring, collecting a myriad of common and yet
useful staple items (potions, arrows, bombs, etc.)- then, once you have enough items to start a buisness, use the income of your store to gain more rare and valuable items, until, at last, you open up the Zelda Worlds first MINI MARKET!!! (JK).

Also, are we talking about controlling a band of people?? Or just controlling one character in a group of online buddies?? Or even just one character travelling alone like the original games!!

Oh- the storyline. Remember the war that caused Link's mother to flee to the Kokiri in The Ocarina of Time?? 'Nuff said.
but i reakon u start with the options of costomising your race to make them look like u want them then you start and do whateva
Of course!
Oh, and, uh..... How do you vote for the pole???
click on 1 of the circles to the right the click vote
Yeah, the name would obviously have to change; something like Dawn of Hyrule (first name I thought of).

Anyway, a lot (if not all) mmorpgs have an underlying quest, broken down into several segements that don't force the player to continue once its started (think Guild Wars). This quest could involve rescuing Zelda, with dozens of dungeon crawls and all that good stuff.

Let's not forget that if yu're including naval combat, that means you're including pirates! Random encounters on the ocean, stumbling across an island cave where a pirate crew hides out, etc.

Picking a race, applying racial modifiers and then customizing as you advance in levels is a great idea.
It could still be called Legend of Zelda, because Zelda would probbably still be the princess of Hyrule. But this idea is sounding really really awesome, it would be one of the best games ever created, almost an oblivion style zelda!!!!!

And someone said it would be no different to every other mmo, but your forgetting the controller, im sure they could come up with some really unique features for it

im really excited about this now. anyone else whos into it, why don't we go into more detail and come up with a storyline and more ideas and stuff and try and submit it to nintendo!
whats an MMORPG?
MMORPG = Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game.

Key examples of this are:
1. World of Warcraft
2. City of Heroes
3. Final Fantasy XI

oh thanks

I disagree I think a zelda MMORPG would not be good at all, simply because that completely ruins the whole point of Legend of Zelda. It wouldn't be original.

The whole point of Zelda is an adventure and puzzle game that doesn't rely on other online people to make it enjoyable. A zelda MMORPG wouldn't really be anything new, just like any other MMORPG.

Putting Zelda into an MMORPG would be like putting Mario into sports games...

yeah but it would still be good. Besides, it's not exactly a legend of zelda "game" its just a game set in the zelda "universe" so it would still be good

It could go either way, but I don't want Nintendo to risk it, I want them to create an original MMORPG first.

There's mario hoops, mario superstrickers, Mario Tenis and the baseball one. ( I forgot the names so if there wrong meh hehe..) There are some mario sports games.

That game (if it were good) would sell excellently, and ;last a long, long time
There's also Street V3 (which was annoying, admittedly, but still) and the Mario Kart series, which counts as racing.
Maybe something like Legend's Beggining for a title?

You know I was kind of joking when i metioned Mario Sports games being made. I was just pointing out the fact that there are WAY more mario sports and party games than ACTUAL mario platforms (which I love the most), some of the sports games are fun (esp. mario kart), but they just can't compare with real platforming mario games.
