Big publishers have been wary of creating new titles for the Nintendo Wii due to the perception that first-party titles are better supported than third-party games, says Brian Dreyer, business development manager for Frontline Studios.

The trepidation of companies to support the console and its motion sensitive controller has left a gap in the market that independent studios have been wise to exploit, claims Dreyer

CAPCOM is developing the Resident Evil for Wii and I'm sure many other games will come. As for big supporters EA is huge they have another original game that they're supposed to reveal next month for Wii and the they're giving Wii it's own Sims game. Madden from they is great, SSX Blur looks promising. Ubisoft is trying but so far they haven't had any major hits other than Rayman, the rest are just ports. Red Steel is debatable between people. Sega is bringing back what looks to be like a classic-style Sonic game to Wii with Secret Rings. Those are already 4 big developers, the rest will follow.
I agree with Wii_Rulez, a lot more big develepors are going to be coming soon and that will lead to more and more games. Not to mention nintendo is having the best third party support it's ever had (correct me if i'm wrong)
I wasn't agreeing with the article. I'm just posting it for people to read. Its pretty stupid in my opinion
o i know don't get me wrong I was talking about the article. Posting my opinion. Big Grin
No one said you were agreeing with the article.

Anyway, if people feel that 1st-party games are getting better support then they should probably ask other developers (sounds silly, I know) how they felt their title was being supported instead of sitting there and being wary.
Yea, plus Red Steel wasn't first party and it sold great. (may not have been the best game but the hype sold it for sure)

Not to mention the wii is doing great, if I were a developer i'd drift over to the wii side (I heard they have cookies! Toungue)
They aren't so much scared, just a little frustrated.

Nintendo consoles = 1st Party Primary consoles.
and maybe some developers dont have what it takes to make a wii title...lots of developers are used to creating games for xbox and PS controllers and may not have the creativity to make a decent Wii game
Well if a company wants a game developed for the system then they will have someone to make it. whether or not the creativity is there is besides the point. But that's what developers and game programmers are is creative so I don't see that as a problem. I see this as a short term thought process by big publishers. But I really think that everything will snowball and we won't have any problems finding new games for the Wii.
I tried looking up this studio and found a bunch of games I've never heard of, so I'm wondering if it's sour grapes due to a company that's perhaps too small or maybe they just haven't put out any great games expecting the royal treatment like the big boys get. We've seen already that many very large groups are making games for the Wii, so I'm guessing this is spilt milk.
I highly doubt that.

The Wii has been getting alot of love from so many manjor and up in coming devs.

I dotn see many of them being scared, because alot of hit games on the DS.. would run similiar on the Wii and would attract to the same audiance.

Seeing as the DS audiance = Wii audiance

We all win.
I think/hope this time around that Wii get's more 3rd party support. I think it might cuz if you take a look at Ubisoft who have so many games already out or in production for the Wii (though many/most are ports) and the fact that I have five games for the Wii (only because I'm not rich enough to have more and the wife would kill me) and only one is from Nintendo, not counting Wii Sports.
guess i have half and half...lets see zelda, wii sports, wario, excite truck, all nintendo...madden, rayman, COD 3, monkey ball, all third party

of course if i had to choose i will go with nintendo games
I forget which developer said it, but they said it is not easy developing games for nintendo systems mainly because their main competitor is Nintendo. Who wants to go head to head with them in terms of pumping out quantity of quality? It makes sense, but if the Wii continues to sell as well as it does, perhaps 3rd parties can thrive on the wii based on volume alone. Someone needs to take the chance and develope a ground up quality adult title (either T or M rating) and hopes it sells well. It seems like dev. are standing on the edge of the pool, perhaps dipping a toe in here and there rather than just running and jumping.
