In Pickaway County, police and sheriff's deputies stepped up patrols around Teays Valley High School after a serious threat was made earlier this week.

Teays Valley High School was on lockdown part of the day after disturbing reports that a student intended to bring a weapon on the school bus.

The development comes on the heels of an earlier investigation that led to the arrest of a middle school student.

Ashville Police and the Pickaway County Sheriff's Office took turns patrolling the grounds at Teays Valley High School after a student overheard a threat similar to the one made by the middle school student.

"Our suspicion is that the incident trickled over to the high school," said Teays Valley Superintendent Jeff Sheets.

He added that they have talked to every student and spent hours investigating the rumor along with the Pickaway County Sheriff's Office.

According to Ashville Police, an unnamed middle school student told a California teen during an Xbox 360 Live chat on Monday that he would bring a 9 mm pistol to school. That teen's father alerted the FBI.

Parents and guardians expressed shock and concern about their children's safety.

Administrators say they've taken precautions and painstakingly questioned students about the details surrounding the threats.

Meanwhile, a certain tension lingers over the Teays Valley School District until more information can be learned.

The 13-year-old middle school student involved in the initial investigation was taken into custody and charged with inducing a public panic.

The Pickaway County Sheriff's Office said in a press release that a search warrant was executed, and the Xbox, a firearm (not a 9 mm) and other "items of evidentiary value" were seized.

The student was released to his parents; however, it's unclear weather he'll be permanently barred from returning.

Wow, I feel sorry for the kid when he goes back to school (if he does). Ah, what a laugh, I mean I know I shouldn't, but it's hilarious. I will say that it sucks because all the anti-gaming people are going to come out of the woodwork again.

the anti-gaming people wouldn't really have a case with this either. the gaming industry would be able to use this against those people, saying that since the threat was caught online, the schools were able to take precautions.

but seriously - wtf, why does someone that young have a firearm? parents need to pay more attention to what goes on in their house.
It was probably his dads...

But that isn't really funny it's just news that you often here nowadays.
Probally a BB gun or something, anyway question is why would you bring the X-Brick to school? I mean that original xbox was huge, would get a hernia carrying that thing around all day lol.
see, thats what i dont understand about parents...if they have firearms, they should lock them away somewhere or at least keep them away from their kids. hell, i didnt know my father had a gun til i moved out to college. instead, things like this happen and they just go "whoops"
geh its so much easier in the UK

guns are illegal ('cept shotguns (for hunting), but you need a licence)

It's not so much if they have a case, it's more of them whining A LOT.

Ya, it's the whining that I hate to....I HATE THE WHINING! >.<'
Weird......
LOL hilarious
well, I brought the wii to school in my backpack, and that still took up some space.

what the heck is the kid doing with a pistol anyway?

Ok first of it says that he brought a 9mm pistol.

Secondly he didn't bring his 360 to school.

Read the article before posting dude. :XD:

nope, it says that it was a firearm but was NOT a 9mm.

and from the way i read it, he didn't bring anything to school, they just confiscated the weapon, the 360, and other stuff fro (what seems like) his home. this thing never got to more than a threat online.
