konami released the original back in the late 80s...
that game is screaming for a wii update...sprints, hurdles, hammer throw, javelin, etc.
maybe EA could resurrect the franchise...
I think that with the success of Wii Sports (#1 best selling game in Japan since they didn't have it bundled) that this will happen. I really can see even a Wii Winter Games and Wii Summer Games.
Yeah I think games like those could make huge comebacks. Think of the possiblilities!!!

I know I never played the original but I had track and field II for my NES. Man I could never do that triple jump without dq'ing. Oh I used to love archery and fencing. Those would be great on Wii.
To answer your question, anyone. Track and field games are easy to make, but difficult to make enjoyable. I think track and field 1 and 2 on the NES were my favorites. Thew major problem with track and field is the track part. With the exception of hurdles, it's all basically the same thing. Now if someone would put some time and effort into Summer and Winter olympic games, that could be good. Curling, Ice Hockey, skiing might be fun. Conversely field events and fighting stuff might be cool. I can see the running event being something along the lines of Rayman, and everyone would be so damn tired for anything over 100 meters.

I'd buy it in a second. I'd love to see more sports games. I can't wait for Tiger Woods 07 on the Wii. 1500m imagine the marathon or decathalon, but you know we'd all love it.
They should make an ironman triathalon game. swim 2 miles, bike 100+, run 26. How awesome would that be!!!!
