Nintendo of America has announced that 1.5 million downloads have been made through their Virtual Console service for Wii. The service has almost averaged 1 million downloads per month, a number which is expected to increase once Nintendo unleashes it's big guns and more Wiis are shipped and sold.
Within the first year of the Xbox 360's lifespan Microsoft has reported that 20 million Xbox Live Arcade games have been downloaded. Where do you think the Virtual Console will be a year from now?

Don't hold your breath.
Some doubted people would be willing to pay for stuff they could download and emulate but numbers don't like, well they can't even talk but if they could they wouldn' lie. This many downloads and so many great games still missing from the list. These numbers will continue to grow and grow.
The numbers are gonna go crazy when games like super metroid and OoT come out.
