Its like having cable tv. I don't...and its not because I don't have the money. I do. I just don't anything more than the basic channels. I don't watch Adult Swim, Anime, South Park or anything else that people feel they need cable for...besides now a days you can pretty much get most things online. Like stumbling on to YouTube today and just checking out different movies. Sure they aren't sharp on the TV, but they are just as sharp as if I was watching them on my computer screen. And they are bigger, so its like watching a movie or something.

Anyways, TV is good for Heroes, Lost, CSI:Las Vegas, Seinfeld and other various local tv network shows.
i was wondering what tyoes of video files it will definitely play, my youngest son was watching me surf the web on it, and he asked me to go to WWE's website, so i take him there, and he wanted to watch the videos but they never loaded , i think its all flash with them but i am not for sure.
if it plays youtube vids thats cool, i know that it played that advertisement video stuff on myspace too...
Yeah, the Wii browser plays YouTube videos well. I was impressed with it's loading time as well, it easily keeping up with what my computer can do loading videos.

I'm not sure of the specific formats that it can view, but we will probably see a few more with the release of the final version. The beta form is working well enough for me, so I can't wait to see how they improve on it.
Right now I think it only will play flash 7 or lower, which stinks because more and more new sites are using the flash 8+ player. Probably why WWE doesnt play the videos. I think they may be using a newer player.

But yea, Youtube is fun for watching viral videos and that accapella(SP?) group singing video game theme songs.
How much is your average cable service over there

we have to pay £62.50 a month ($125) for our satellite provider (cable isn't big over here, they have only half the channels satellite does)
I pay $57.00 for internet. I have comcast cable. Its on all the time, and just as fast as DSL...but DSL wasnt offfered in my town. Verizon DSL is $19.95 so I got screwed.
Dunno how comcast is in your area but comcast cable is 10x faster than dsl in my area
yea. its faster...but there has been some major inconsistencies with my router/wireless set up and local area connection.
i'm surprised there's no way to update the specs on the Wii browser yet. maybe they're holding out til the final version.

i noticed on one site i'd be able to view videos for a few minutes, but then it wouldn't play anymore. sometimes it'll just play the sound. the actual DL and buffering is nice and quick tho

does anyone know if there's a temp internet system on the Wii or cookies? alot of sites are starting to require cookies.
I dont think there is any kind of cookie aspect to the Wii Browser, but I am sure that Nintendo and Opera are looking in to how the Wii Browser can be better suited once the new version is out. The BETA time is a good time to see how many people actually download and use the service, as well as, Im sure Nintendo is keeping track somehow of what sites are visited often and what kinds of requirements they have. I wouldnt be surprised if the next update to the Wii Browser has the ability to use flash player 9 as well as some of the Windows Media update.
i doubt there's gonna be a WMV since that's Microsoft's domain. maybe Quickplayer or something.

i'd expect a note sent out to those who DLed the BETA asking them to respond with any issues they had more than tracking down visited sites. that's SpyWare crap and Ninty ain't gonna go down a road they know people already hate
Well we already know that they are keeping track on my nintendo as to who downloaded the service. If you register your wii and download games on the VC or the web browser, it shows up there. They will most likely do a survey. They have in the past in regards to games I have DL.
I downleaded the internet channel on saturday. The first site I went to was youtube. I couldn't get anything to run. Is there a patch or somthing I need do download to run them or are they too high of a flash version.
nope
shouldnt be anything that you need to run. It worked right away for me. And I know all that I did was download the Browser. All of youtube videos should be on a flash 7 compatibility, but then again, I dont go clicking on every YouTube movie to see how it was uploaded.

Geez, I'm getting ripped

My internet is £30pm ($60) and I'm only getting 8/0.4
mind you 24/1.3 is coming to my exchange soon so all will be well Toungue

geh, why does the UK have to be so damn expensive

Well in my opinion the internet should be free. All we need is some sort of satellite signal for internet all over the world. A wireless internet world is the wave of the future.

And so is brain cancer.
