UK based online-retailer Grattan is taking pre-orders for the black wii console. They are pricing it at £279.99 (aprox $560) With Call of Duty 3 and Red Steel. Noting that the UK price for the wii is £180 (aprox $360) and games are on average £40 (aprox $80) each, the Black Wii costs an extra £20 (aprox $40). But I know many gamers are willing to pay the extra.

Notice the different Red Steel image, the original is red, but this one is gold, a perhaps there is a new version in the works?
Grattan as a choice for a shop to do this is odd because Grattan is best known for lady's clothing, kettles and watering cans. And suddenly is the only shop known to be taking pre-orders for this bundle?
SPOnG contacted Grattan, and were told there wouldn't be any Black Wiis until "later in 2007" and that's all they would say.

I wouldn't pay an extra 200 bucks for a system (well minus the games which is an extra 100, but still)
I pointed out that it actually works out as and extra $40, which'll probably mean the US will get it for about $250
The black Wii keeps growing on me. At first I saw the white one as looking much better but now I find myself wanting a black one as well.

I would be a little scared of this offer until I saw something official from Nintendo confirming a date(and pardom me if Nintendo already confirmed a date for the black Wii). Can't you preorder Duke-Nukem Forever at Best Buy or someplace like that?

Some people want the different color, they just have the original Wii because they couldn't wait for another color to come out just to play it. Simple solution buy a black Wii skin. And no, I won't buy an ice-blue skin for my Wiimote, I don't even think there is one.
If you didn't have one then you might be interested in getting this to be different but I still think the deal looks shady considering Nintendo hasn't said anything about it and this would be huge news.
Yes it would be huge news, plus another reason I wouldn't get the black one is so that I could say. My wii's an original.
