I just set up the Wii to work with the component cables and everything si great except in Zelda the sword sound effects are not there anymore. When i cut a shrub or he when the sword charges up for a swirl attacks i hear the ping. But when i actually take the slash, nothing. Does anyone have any input?
Just in Zelda, and just the sword sound effects? Trying switching back to the composite cables and see if this works with them. It's very strange that you would only lose those.
i did switch back and its perfect. sounds and everything. thats why its so strange.
could be a grounding problem.

or: i had a VERY similar issue with third party s-video cables for gamecube.
in a sonic&knuckles(sonic collection game)some aspects of the background music were left out. so i hacked it and cut one of the audio cables off, soldered on a new one and it worked perfectly. check and see if they are a tight fit in your tv.

if you took them back and got new ones, it might work better, or if you purchase the nintendo-made version.
what i think is happening is, like my gc problem, certain frequencies of sound are just not playing, but most others are. what does this noise sound like?

Cables hooked up properly? I had a similar problem with both sound and picture quality until I rearranged the cables. That fixed everything.

actually i turned off the system and turned it back on and everything was fine. I don't know if it operates like a computer and resets, but it worked. Thanks for the help guys.
component cables don't carry sound, so it shouldn't affect it unless the r/w cables in the set were faulty.
don't say that. i have looked inside the cable box, and everything is so scrunched together at the wii end something most likely made contact where it wasn't supposed to.
