Well when i get on the internet through the wii everything works fine until about 10 minutes or so and the connection goes so slow, I have a really good linksys wireless router that puts out a smooth connection, Sometimes ill be in youtube and the videos will stream fine, but then couple minutes later the video goes stops and playes a little more. I know this has something to do with my connection or my wii. anyone have any advice.
if you need anymore info then please ask.
I think it's your connection because I've used the Wii's browser for over 30 mins or so at a time and the speed's been constant.
how can i fix this, i set up my connection by myself and my dad dosn't know much about it. Do i need to change the way it outputs the connection or what, i may try going on the opera wii forums.
How far away is the Wii to your router. I'm using an older Netgear 802.11b router and I'm watching cartoons and such on the Wii.
And do you know how to access your router settings?
Try putting this: 192.168.0.1
into your browser's address bar. If it asks to log in then try "admin" as your username and then leave the password blank and try logging in. Then switch your router channel to 1 or 11 (I heard that the lower, the better but am ont sure). Aside from that I don't know how else I could help.
are you visiting the same sites? the problem is that on your pc, there is a ton of space in a cache folder to store internet stuff, whereas the wii has to re-load everything, including pictures and videos everytime you exit out and go back into a site. ( that 1mb gif in cloud's signature is a great example

)
my router is a couple of feet from my wii and i looked at my wii internet settings and it is green(4bars/good connection). I am not exactly sure on how to configure my router for the best performace, but i do no my cousin used her laptop with it and played counter strike with no problem. and i have comcast high speed internet which is really fast.
also, i don't visit the same sites. and it goes so slow sometimes like were i could leave for a good 2 minutes and then it might have loaded the page.
in needed to bump......i want ever do it again.
about the channel changing on my router....how can i do this. also that adress did nothing when i typed it in
if its a linksys your address will probably be
192.168.1.1
and the default username and password is
user: admin
pass: admin
The channel settings will be under the wireless tab of the configuration script
I got that adress to work the only thing is that the pasword and username are not admin

Here's a question you really got ask yourself. If your only a couple feet away from your router, then why isn't it saying you have an excellent connection. Normally speaking, at least on my router, they want you to set your broadcast number to 1 or 2 inorder to get the best signal.
Secondly, you might try moving the Wii or router away from each other just a little more. The standard antennas on routers are very crappy, but there's the off-hand chance that their just too darn close.
Finally, if you keep getting booted every so many minutes, it sounds like your router is resetting the connection. Check an owners manual or do a google search for your router name and number and see what's going on.
im happy to say that going to my settings over the internet and changing the connection to channel 1 worked. so it is a fact that this helps a lot. I can finally browse the web and watch videos on youtube. Thanks guys.
now, would someone please tell me how channel switching can improve performance? (i know how to do it)
