Another Monday, another Virtual Console update for the North Americans. This week we have an eclectic group featuring a dinosaur riding plumber, a martial artist fighting off New York gang members, and supercomputers imprisoning civilians in war simulations.

Of course I'm talking about Gain Ground (Genesis), Vigilante (Turbografx-16), and Super Mario World (SNES). You can determine whether they're in the same order as the above list. Fans had speculated that Super Mario World would appear today after it was listed in the Virtual Console section in Nintendo Power's March issue.

Super Mario World will set you back 800 points ($8 US), Gain Ground costs another 800, while Vigilante is going for 600 points ($6).
Woo Hoo Super Mario World
May have to get super mario world...man I spend a lot...*sigh*
I've been waiting for super mario world and donkey kong country. I'll be up late tonight! Toungue
I could have gotten it but Link to the past.. I didnt see it on the new additions.
What time was this? Apparantly they came up around noon eastern.
I DL'ed my SMW around...12:30 eastern...I didn't check earlier, but at 12:30 at least SMW was up, didn't bother looking for the others Toungue
yeah, i have noticed that they update the VC games every monday usually between the hours of 12 -1pm EST
Super Mario World for sure and perhaps some of the others as well.
I'm so glad they put Super Mario World up. Mario 3 is the only must-have I can think of right now.
Super Mario World is amazing and I'm glad it's finally made it to the VC. I really think this is probably the best Mario game made. It's got everything...huge worlds, a stupid dino to ride, and mario's own cape...who could ask for anything more? Smile

I'd say this is a must buy.
I think Super Mario Bros. 3 could match it.
awesome idea with the dictionary reference right there in the story!:XD:

HUGE QUESTION::::
does luigi have his own sprites like in smas+smw, or is luigi just a palette swap of mario, like in the original game?????

Mario 3 is a great game, but if I was to look at any Mario game that came out on the NES I'd have to pick Mario 2. I realize it wasn't actually a Mario game, because they just used mario characters in a different game, but it was still cool and the ability to pick things up carried over into the other games.
