only if your standard def. tv has the outputs for it, but you really wont see much of a diffference unless you truly have an HDTV.

if you have a Component input to your standard def tv you will see more vivid colors...It's the same way with the Xbox 360 as it is with the Wii. Component cables will give you a superior picture over the standard yellow, red, and white cable.

There is a switch on the cable to switch between the component and regular inputs. There is also a setting for output on the system settings for standard output or HD.
