According to a recent interview EA is contemplating bringing Fight Night to the Wii. Fight Night started out back in 98 under the name of Knockout Kings on the PlayStation and had several versions on other platforms such as Game Boy Color, Nintendo 64, PlayStation 2, GameCube and Xbox. It wasn't until 2003 that the name was changed to Fight Night. Along with the new name came new features such as 'Total Punch Control and Defense' as well as the use of the analog stick to include directional punching, blocking, and dodging. Fight Night found great success on many consoles and we might see yet another success with a version on the Wii. I think that many people who have played the boxing game in Wii Sports wanted to like it but felt that the controls were not as good as they should be. Perhaps this is the boxing title that we've all been waiting for.

Here's what Game Producer Michael Blank had to say when asked about a Fight Night game for the Wii:

Quote:
“We’re talking about it right now. We’re contemplating and we definitely feel there are some exciting things we can do with the Fight Night franchise and the Wii. When you play Wii Boxing it is a very simple experience and I think that is what they designed it to be just to let you know that you can throw punches. With Fight Night we have an amazing simulation of Boxing and so we need to take those Wii controls and tailor it to what the Fight Night consumer might want to experience. We are looking at it right now and I am sure you will something some time in the future on the Wii…We want people to get a bit of workout. If you like playing sports games and are excited by sports it is a good way to give you the best of both worlds.”

I'd like to see EA's take on Boxing. That's not saying I'd buy it, but I'd love to see it in action.
They mention in the article how much energy would be spent if this were indeed made and I have to agree. If the controls were good then I'd pick it up definitely. You can't beat a game with great controls and will help you to keep in shape at the same time. I really hope this happens.
Eh...all the whiners will complain about how boxing is the worst game for Wii Sports so why would it be good in a full game. Boxing is great if you know what you're doing. Everyone that plays it like a five year old (flailing) say it's stupid. But, if you put some effort in to figuring it out, it's great! I've knocked flailers in five punches! I say bring this on!
Cool, if this game nails the controls then I'm picking it up. End of story.
Sweet, I love Fight Night. I hope this happens asap.
I don't hate boxing on the Wii, I actually like it some. I have never been one to go crazy with the Wiimote and nunchuck and if you take the time to learn the controls then you can beat those who just swing wildly. I was losing in the beginning to people who used the "go crazy as if you're on fire" technique but now I totally own them all with style. Still, I'd love to see a game with more.
Ya at first I lost to those crazy arm swinging loonatics, but then when I got a better and actually played by my self for a while, well I owned them!
It best be play better than, Wii sports boxing.
