According to Perrin Kaplan, VP of Marketing and Corporate Affairs, Nintendo hasn't decided whether or not there will be a price on the final version of the Opera Wii Channel.
Speaking about the Wii Internet Channel, Kaplan said that while a trial version is currently available, Nintendo hasn't yet determined whether there'll be a price when the full version arrives, but revealed, "I know that if you download the trial version, the full version will be free." (Note that there'd been previous word that the full version would be free for only a limited time, though.)

I doubt it'll stay free forever.
Nintendo can use it to make money, then again, I wouldn't pay Wii Points for it either. Since my computer has the internet anyway.
So, they'd get more downloads if it stayed free.
Totally true, why buy Opera for Wii, if you have a computer then you won't need it, but if you don't then why would you have the INTERNET I dare say.

Yeah, I believe that's how it works. If you got it before the date of the official release then you'll be able to updgrade to the full version for free. That's what it sounds like anyhow. Guess we'll have to wait for something official.

Yeah, I should. Money restrictions aren't helping. I will probably have to choke myself into paying for it or just accept that I have Firefox on my PC and it works much better for me. This way I can surf the net and game at the same time.

I heard that the last vert should be out sometime around March and that it'll be available until June for free. Then, it'll cost you Wii points. It's already part of the "Wii Shop Channel", so yeah...
I'm hoping though, that the final version will add support for web downloads *videos, music clips/songs, pictures, etc.*, some kind of in-browser media player support, and support for Java.
