I just bought WoW yesterday, it took almost 10hours to install. I tryed to sign up for an account but when they asked my way of Billing.....I went for the pre-paid game card option. and they asked me what the code was(on the gamecard). but I dont have 1. D:
Arnt I saposed to get a month free?
After I installed WoW I tryed to log-in, I THOUGHT I logged-in, but it doesnt matter what you put under USERNAME: and PASSWORD:
even this would work
USERNAME:ffdgfsdfsd
PASSWORD:dsffhgjetr
So anytime I (saposedly) log-in It takes me to an 8HOUR download, and I allready did that part!!!!
HELP!
REP FOR THE PERSON THAT CAN HELP ME!
Uninstall the game, defrag your computer, erase your registry, format your Hardrive. Then throw all the disks to the floor, get a baseball bat and smash it, then throw it to the trash and burn the trash. That's what I would do.
But no seriously, just be careful with the game, because I it for nearly 1 1/2 years straight and 1/2 year on and off, and jsut recently quit, that game is addictive as hell.
Hmm....but to really answer your question, I used my credit card. But one thing I can tell you is that I believe I gave them my credit card info and everything as if I was paying for the month even though I just got the game, blizzard just gave me the month free and the next month the transaction will go through. So to sum it up, they needed some sort of contract from you. Just get a pre-paid card, you will want to play for at the very least 1 more month no matter what you think.

sorry but how does that help with an 8hour loading screen?
ugh...the first question is crossed out, meaning that I fixed that.

Oh sorry,
Then whats your internet connection (DSL, dial-up?), and what are your speeds? Click here to test your actual speeds (since the speeds that your internet provider says you have might differ).
Also, if you have a router, you might want to forward ports for blizzard downloader, go here and choose your router, then choose the program you want to forward ports for (in this case, world of warcraft), and follow the guide.
On the same site you can also find step by step guides to setting your firewall to allow world of warcraft.
For even more help, blizzard has done a incredible job on its support page <- so check that out as well
Hope this helps
Ya, it could just possibly be your internet speed. At a new begining player, you have to download a lot of patches. There are two major ones that i can remember, that are like 200+mb or something. So it might just be that you don't have a really fast internet speed (say dial up) that will lower your download rate, thats probably why you are getting the 8 hour download. Now if you don't have dial up, it could just be like what Brando said, it could just be your firewall blocking it, or your router (if you use one). I used to use a router, and had issues with the download patches. Ya, it is truly a very addictive game, you should probably try a one month plan or something, or even the 10 day trial before you go spending big bucks for a game you may or may not like.
yeah There are going to be 4 big patches for you to download
