So now there’s a rumor floating around that Square-Enix is working on Kingdom Hearts 3 for the Wii. Here’s my take.

Square-Enix has jumped on the Wii bandwagon and does have a healthy relationship with Nintendo as of recent years. With both of their largest properties, Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, being brought to the Wii this year and both with multiple titles on the Nintendo DS and Gameboy systems, why not bring what is probably their third largest property to the system as well? I know the game is not fully geared toward kids, but it also would make sense to put it on a less hardcore system that falls into the price range a kid could feasibly obtain.

Here’s an interesting quote from Nomura about future Kingdom Hearts installments,”It’s difficult to explain it. I’m thinking about how to talk about it [without giving things away], which means that there will be some twists to it. Up until now, the series followed along a [straight] time line, going from Kingdom Hearts to Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hearts II. But the idea I have right now doesn’t follow that flow,” Nomura told Famitsu.com. “However, as long as it inherits the Kingdom Hearts title, it needs to have some connection [to previous installments] in terms of storyline, so it won’t be too distant from the other titles. In any case, this is still at a conceptual phase, where I’m thinking about what I want to do.”

We won’t know what’s going on with this one until Tetsuya Nomura reveals some details, which he has stated will happen Mid-2007. The only thing he has said is that there are multiple Kingdom Hearts projects in the works at the moment, so maybe if we don’t get Kingdom Hearts 3, it seems likely that we’d get a spinoff, and that’d be cool too.

The chances of KH3 appearing on Wii went up when Disney set up a gaming studio to develop for Wii. Which is a sign that their friendship has strengthened and Square were looking at spreading their franchises.

Woo! But wait a minute...that means the graphics will be not as good as it would be on the PS3? *repeatedly says "gameplay is more important" to self*
If this rumor ain't true, Is it possible to rent a PS3? lol

Well, unlike the FF series I never really saw KH as a graphical showcase. I mean it only usually has two CGI parts, the intro and the ending. The Wii would be powerful enough to make them look better than the PS2. And the in game graphics would also improve.

Yeah, Disney has all kinds of games coming out for the Wii so the relationship/bond is there already. Graphics wise I'm with LMX. I thought KH and KHII looked nice and the gameplay would outshine it anyways. I hope to hear some more on this but good find and +rep from me on awesome rumor with real possibilities.

I would be in forever bliss, if it came to the Wii, a lot of PS3 fanboy's dont want that, because I was on a KH3 Forum, and got Flamed heavily for supporting the idea of KH3 on the Wii.

Don't worry. My sword can absorb flames and harness them to make me stronger and I shall smite all PS3 fanboys!

That sucks. It's a double standard and any decent forum wouldn't support it. Take this site for example, mainly about Wii but we have a section for PS3, XBox360 and others and we don't say that you can say only PS3 sucks but can't say XBox360 sucks or Wii sucks. To each his own. Fan boys make me sick!

I would love to see KH3 come over onto the Wii. That would rule!

Actually, I didn't even think of that. Maybe Final Mix 2 could come out on Wii... though its unlikely.

But KH gameplay shouldn't be like Zelda. Because Zelda is an adventure game and KH is an RPG.

I just realized, now that the Wii is out does that mean GC [and PS2] are old school? :o

I always thought of Zelda being a Action/adventure game, with some RPG elements, but not a Full RPG.

KH1 and 2 were really good games, and i would love to swing the keyblade around with the wiimote

KH3 on wii FTW!!!

KH3 on the Wii would be an absolute dream come true! Personally I don't really plan on waiting for Crystal Chronicles.. but if KH were coming to the Wii I'd be all for it. 100% I would be concerned about the quality of the game though.

I have faith that Square would push the Wii to its limits.
