When Nintendo first announced that the Wii's output would only reach 480p, Sony and Microsoft both scoffed at the lack of HD on the then-doubted little console.
Now a thread over at the Nintendo of America forum has revealed that problems are arising when using component cables in certain sections of Twilight Princess, the Opera Channel and the Mii Channel.

Engadget Wrote:
Several forum members have mentioned that the screen goes blank during specific sections of Zelda, the Wii Channel, and in the Opera browser. Switching to 480i output in nearly all cases fixes the problem.

Another problem? Its not just third party cables. The Nintendo cables have been having difficulties as well. The good news? Its only affecting some TVs. Mainly 30-65 inch televisions from a variety of companies.

Hopefully Nintendo will clear this up shortly with a firmware update or perhaps the people involved would have to send their Wiis to Nintendo for fixing.

Nice find, I dont have a 30-65 inch TV so I am still buying them in the not so distant future. I have had problems with 480i recently, where on the top of the TV (mainly when the screen has white/bright colors, there is distortion of the screen, and tearing starts to occur
I use 480p on a 30+ inch widescreen HDTV and have had to issues with zelda or any other games.
I have Nintendo comp cables and they work fine, no probs at all...

Let the others piss and moan about their problem because they were too impatient to wait and had to buy 3rd party trash. Serves em right for being idiots.

But it isn't just the 3rd party ones. Several people have complained about the Official Nintendo ones as well.

Well mine are good, so no complaints here.
yea, I have the official nintendo component cables that I was able to order as soon as they were available that one day by phone. I have problems with 480p on my 32 in. HDTV. I get random bright flashing pixels on zelda and wii sports.
I also have had no problems on my 42" LCD using Nintendo cables and 480p.
No complaints here...and using NOA component cables on a 30"+ television.
I thought i was okay, but recently I've been getting these like marks on the screen in the vote channel, and some other places. Gonna call Nintendo on my day off perhaps..

Thats why I sent my Wii to Nintendo, I only have thecomposite cables because i'm not aloud to play my Wii on our [precious <_<] HD TV, but I get these pixels on both TVs, on every screen, I sent mine to Nintendo last friday I think it was, it has yet to come back, they did say 4-10 days on an e-mail my dad got monday I think it was, so I may not get my Wii back for A while, but you might wanna send yours, or atleast call them.

And when you try to beat Ganon, does it say the disc cannot be read?

Hmm...well I'm not for sending it off just yet. I'll probably give them a call here soon. And no it doesn't give me a disc read error at that point.

Ok, ok, but thats why I sent mine, there are no scratches on my Zelda disc AT ALL, so I sent it.
Wow I was wondering about the comp cables! I guess I'll wait to see if this problem gets fixed!
I have composite cables, but I know for a fact that in the "Everybody Votes Channel", the screen is subjest to tearing a lot of the time. This is just a strange glitch
Well the problem seems to be with WiiConnect 24 overheating the GPU. At first I was just getting flashing pixels in 480p with component cables but the NOA guy said to switch it back to 480i and the composite cables to check if I still had the problem and sure enough I did. So I sent mine in to get the GPU replaced.
