Everyday when I log on to my XBL account, Im immersesed in a world where everything seems to be at my fingertips. Movies, online gaming, television shows.. even LIVE television in late 2007. And I look at the Wii... and I think to myself... when will Nintendo get on the balll with WiiConnect24?
We heard all the promises...
"Wiiconnect24 will change how we look at online gaming."
Hard to say that while the XBL service is kicking ass and taking names. But I can not rant on about a service that hasnt even been born yet, now can I? Of course not. But I can hope for a few things in the futher of WiiConnect24, that Nintendo should adhere to.
1. Downloadable Content, also known as: Microtransactions. You pay a lil more to play a lil more. In some cases, developers take advantage of this and make downloadable content not worth while. Whereas many other developers make use of this and keep us wanting more. Best examples of this is from the XBOX 360 RainbowSix Vegas & Guitar Hero II. In Guitar Hero II there will be added songs [to the already robust 60+ song list] and new avatars and costumes to match. RainbowSix Vegas added a few new multiplayer maps and a all new multiplayer mode to the mix. Those are just two great examples of what WiiConnect24 could possible do.
Let say, The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess was released later in the year, players who may have completed the 50+ hour adventure may want more. I know I sure did once I was done 100% completion of the game. Why not download an extra 20 hour side quest? Or extra dungeons? New weapons along the way? Longivity is the key. Not alot of games have that, you play it once and live to tell it then thats pretty much it.. if it doenst have multiplayer. Downloadable content such as that for a game like LoZTP would be perfect for it.
Itawa had already mentioned that a possible Animal Crossing will be coming to the Wii. I could definately see WiiConnect24 being used alot for a game like that. Why not go bigger? Super Smash Bros Brawl? More levels! More characters! Mini Games! The possibilities are endless.
What do you think?
