Everyday when I log on to my XBL account, Im immersesed in a world where everything seems to be at my fingertips. Movies, online gaming, television shows.. even LIVE television in late 2007. And I look at the Wii... and I think to myself... when will Nintendo get on the balll with WiiConnect24?

We heard all the promises...

"Wiiconnect24 will change how we look at online gaming."

Hard to say that while the XBL service is kicking ass and taking names. But I can not rant on about a service that hasnt even been born yet, now can I? Of course not. But I can hope for a few things in the futher of WiiConnect24, that Nintendo should adhere to.

1. Downloadable Content, also known as: Microtransactions. You pay a lil more to play a lil more. In some cases, developers take advantage of this and make downloadable content not worth while. Whereas many other developers make use of this and keep us wanting more. Best examples of this is from the XBOX 360 RainbowSix Vegas & Guitar Hero II.  In Guitar Hero II there will be added songs [to the already robust 60+ song list] and new avatars and costumes to match. RainbowSix Vegas added a few new multiplayer maps and a all new multiplayer mode to the mix. Those are just two great examples of what WiiConnect24 could possible do.

Let say, The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess was released later in the year, players who may have completed the 50+ hour adventure may want more. I know I sure did once I was done 100% completion of the game. Why not download an extra 20 hour side quest? Or extra dungeons? New weapons along the way? Longivity is the key. Not alot of games have that, you play it once and live to tell it then thats pretty much it.. if it doenst have multiplayer. Downloadable content such as that for a game like LoZTP would be perfect for it.

Itawa had already mentioned that a possible Animal Crossing will be coming to the Wii. I could definately see WiiConnect24 being used alot for a game like that. Why not go bigger? Super Smash Bros Brawl? More levels! More characters! Mini Games! The possibilities are endless.

What do you think?
Everything I always thought as well. When is Nintendo going to get on the ball with its online plans? They're taking far too long...
I've said this once, and i'll say it again. I have faith in Nintendo that they will deliver a GREAT online service. I still think XBL will win the online gameing war, but Nintendo will do pretty good....
I don't believe Nintendo has a chance of coming close to what XBox Live offers. You have to remember that XBox is from Microsoft. I really hope that it does offer something more than what we currently see (I know they're are no online games yet but it is already online). I think we have to give it to the at least the end of this year to pass any judgment on it. When it first comes it will not have so much but it should build and improve as it goes along.
To knock a systems online services while its still in it's infancy is jumping the gun way to early. OK if this were a year after release, yeah there'd be room to say that LIVE won't have a challenge on it's hands. Knowing Nintendo I think they've got enough up their sleeve to put something nice on the table. They've had a year to take notes about what attracts people to LIVE. I personally can do without the smack talking little kids, retarded ghetto kids flaunting their weed, and their taste in porn. Get rid of the camera and just bring out the fun online play as well as a Wii Online Arcade and I think they're gonna be set to take a bite outta LIVE's business especially if the services are all free, aside from a few ShopChannel purchases.
Friend codes still scare me though...i tried to get into online play with the ds, but it was just slow and frustrating.
I'd love it if Nintendo's WiiConnect24 is as robust as the 360's, but I doubt that will happen.

I will, however, be satisfied if WiiConnect24 supports headsets akin to Live's, and if Nintendo went the extra mile to include online multi in VC games, well I would be in heaven.

But that doesn't seem likely to happen, unfortunately.
I don't think with this console...but next!
It won't be better than xBox live but hey hopefully it'll be pretty good.
It merely thoughts and speculation. Opinions do matter. So, foreseeing and adding in a lil of what I'd hope WiiConnect24 should do is ok, so if you or anybody else felt i was jumping the gun.. I wasnt.
