In 1994, the SNES was takeing hard hits from competitors, retale stores and from itself. The SNES needed a huge hit and fast! If not soon, then the Sega Genesis and Sony Palystation would toatally kill Nintendo. Then, out of the dark came a hero....It was, Donkey Kong. Donkey Kong would come to the rescue and recapture video game fans all over the world. Now, almost 15 years latter, the game is released on the Wii's VC. Dose the game still kick as much butt as before? You'll find out in this full review of Donky Kong Country!
Story
Your Bananas are gone! NOOO!! The evil King K has stolen the vast amount of bananas from the cave under your haouse and being a monkey, you want them back. You inlist the help of your little nephew and best buddy, Diddy Kong who idolizes DK. It seems corny, but so was mario when he first came out! Its a crazy and all around fun story.
Graphics
This game was revolotinary in that it was the first game to use pre-enderd 3D graphics. The technique that they used was "ACM" (Advanced Computer Modeling). ACM was a huge risk for Rare because they had no idea wat would turn out because ACM had never been used in a video game to re-render 3D graphics. Wow thats a mouth full....Besides that, the graphics for gameplay were alot like the graphics in a 2D, side-scrolling Mario game. Its simple and neat.
Gameplay
The gameplay is alot like those of other side scrollers. One thing that is diffrent that has been used alot over the DK games is the Tag. When you play you can ether be DK or Ditty at any given point. When one dies the other comes out in his place. DK is more powerfull but slow nd not athletic. Ditty is less powerfull and more athletic. So basicly there is some stratigy in whom you want out at sertine times. Other wise, there are other animals that help the monkeys. Here are the 5 animals that help the monkeys:
Rambi: A powerful rhino who could charge enemies and destroy hidden walls.
Expresso: An ostrich who could "glide" by attempting to fly and run very fast, but could not jump on enemies. Whenever he is attacked by an enemy or lands on an enemy his scream is equivalent to the Mini-Neckys'.
Enguarde: A swordfish (obviously only in water areas) who could charge and skewer enemies with his nose.
Winky: A powerful frog who could jump very high, and kill Zingers and other enemies the kongs cannot touch by jumping on them.
The gameplay over all is a nice solid side scroller that is fun and enjoyable to play. Also with alot of levels and bonus levels, it gives the game alot of lasting appel. It dosn't feel excactly like a mario side scroller but has its own style of gameplay.
Music
The music was so popular back then that nintendo released a CD called DK Jamz. Its fun and energenic. It also dose well of fiting a song with its level. Like if there were a cloud level, there would be a light and flufy music style. Overall, great music!

Music--8.8/10--Good energenic music.
Lasting appel--8.5/10--A bonus level on almost every level
Overall--9/10--The game that saved the SNES is still good today
Get this game?-YES! Its a classic that saved a compine. If it had not been for this game then Nintendo might have gone under. (Probly not but it makes for a good ending scentence! =P)
