John C Dvorak over at PC Magazine has put up an article on his take of the Wii. He states in his article that he was skeptic about it all and that normally he tries to stay away from video games but all in all he had mostly good things to say about the Wii. Some people may be offended that he calls the Wii a toy but I wasn't really so offended since a toy is what you play with and you play with the Wii so there is that connection. The only thing negative he had to say about the Wii is that it might cause you pains from overuse, which it most certainly will and that's why you keep having that pop up from Nintendo saying you should take a break ever so often. All in all a good article that I hope you all enjoy. I've picked some quotes from the article that I thought were interesting and you can see the full article in the link.

--------------------------------------------------

"Over the years, I've tried as hard as I can to avoid console game-playing machines, but it's nearly impossible with the Nintendo Wii. With that gyroscopic accelerometer controller, which conveys both motion and direction, it offers such an odd and new experience."

"The Wii doesn't produce the elaborate and stunning HDTV look of the Sony PlayStation 3, but thanks to its controller, it proves that what really matters is the game play itself."

"But here comes the downside, something that could cause problems for the Wii in the long term: tendonitis."

"On the other side of the coin, there's actually some physical activity involved. Instead of kids sitting there doing nothing, they have to be up and moving and often jumping around to play many Wii games."

Ode to the Wii
It's kind of ironic for a guy who spends his life hunched over a computer, doing the same repetitive motions saying the one potential problem with the Wii is: Tendonitis ? ? ?

Think about it.....
Yeah, I used to have a job like that and still have problems from it. If you take breaks from the game or don't make overexaggerated moves then it shouldn't be that big of a problem. At first I got real sore from playing Wii Sports because of my movements. Then I just tonned them down a bit and no problems. Now Rayman minigames are another story. If you do the running quests a couple of times, you will feel the burn.
After playing Sonic, you'll start feeling it in your elbows and such from thrusting the Wii-mote forward Wink
I find that in Sonic and the Secret Rings it doesn't really require such a exaggerated motion to do the homing attacks. It's really more of a slight flick forward than a thrust. Which is probably true for most games, as has been stated.
But all that exercise and burn is a good thing, no?
Better then the way my wrists feel after working on graphic design projects on my computer for eight hours at a time. Oi.
lol well i'm sure your correct about that, but I find that my hands are going everywhere, as if i'm a monkey flinging poo.
i like dvorak, hes alright...and usually right on
