The Nintendo DS was introduced back in 2004. At first many said that the two screens with one of the screens being a touch screen was just gimmicky. Did that stop people from buying it? The answer to that question is a very resounding NO. The Nintendo DS became and still is a great success. The Nintendo DS Lite, sporting a slimmer and lighter body with a brighter screen was launched in Japan on March 2nd, 2006. Here we are one year later since the introduction of the DS Lite and 3 years later since the introduction of the original DS and they are both still selling quite well. So well in fact that they have now reached the 15 Million units sold mark in Japan. As of January 2007, the Nintendo DS has sold more than 35 million units worldwide. It's simply amazing that a four year old system is still selling so well around the world. My congratulations go out to Nintendo for this accomplishment.

Since Wii was kinda taken from the idea & innovation of the Ds maybe it'll duplicate it's sucess. DS proved it's not gimmicky, Wii can too

Congratz to you Wii Rulez on your 700th post and I totally agree. I remember the first time I saw the Wiimote in a magazine I was so devastated and thought how could Nintendo do this to me again? I had such high hopes for the GC and while I still love it, it let me down a bit. I'm happy to say that I was worried for nothing and now see the light. The success of the DS just shows that innovation and game play trump graphics.
I agree with Mana, gameplay and innovation totally tops graphics. I mean the Wii's graphics aren't horrible. There fine, and to balance it out it's incredibly fun and innovative!

The DS Lite is so worth it if you like portable gaming. Don't expect it to do much more than that even though you can use programs on it such as an organizer that can view pictures and listen to MP3s and there's also a program that allows you to watch videos. The point is if you are looking for a portable "game" machine then you can't go wrong with the DS.
