I was thinking of going out and buying a SD card for my Wii. Now I know that VC games don't play off the SD cards. But do Wii games play off SD cards?

Yes Wii games do play off of SD cards and there is no such thing as a stupid question
? Um, I don't believe they do. You would have to move the game from the SD card back to the Wii in order to play it. I remember seeing this somewhere. Can anyone try it and let us know.

I was talking about games. Like Sonic and the Secret Rings, WarioWare and Red Steel. Those kinda games.
No, you can't copy them on SD Card. You only can copy savegames to the SD Card and VC Games. But if you want to use them, you have to copy them back to the Wii flash memory

Hmm...you can't actually copy Wii games to the SD card. If you're referring to saved games, then I'm sure some game does allow you to save to/from the SD card without copying back and forth.
At least with Twilight Princess and Red Steel though, this is not the case.
It's possible to copy games from the SD Memory Card to the Wii memory and back again but if you transfer (not copy) the file then you couldn't open your save from the SD to use in the game.
