I'm not sure how you feel about this Cloud, but I also enjoyed the turn-based action of the more classic FF games. That's what I think of when I want to play a true RPG. I'm sure most people don't feel the same way I do, but I guess I'm just a student of the old ways.
ATB is FF's best battle system. As long as it remains vaguely similar then I'll be happy.

I was reading over your post " Final Fantasy XIII Battle info revealed. No longer turn based " and when I came to the end I didn't see a source for it.
You find some great PS3 information and it's really helpful, so in future, would you try to remember to site your source also. I forget to do so sometimes also, so I know how easy it is to do.

I like the fact that Square is going in a new direction. ATB was a dying concept, if you want it play anything < FFX in the FF series.

Whatever it is they perfected it.
I also loved the FFX battle System but it made it to easy.
I don't see why you couldn't be given a choice between what combat system you use. There is plenty of space on the Blu Ray disc to give you the option.

Not all RPG's are Turn Based, I would say only Square games, and a number of others are turn-based.
That's why the RPG genre is branched out. You have action-rpgs, strategy/tactical-rpgs, puzzle-rpgs, and others, so just because something is an RPG doesn't mean you should slap the turn-based combat scheme on there.
I really like turn base as well but I will at least give this new system a try before I can say which one I prefer. Turn base is just what I'm used to and maybe my reactions are slowing down as I get older so I need the extra time
I thought I would suck at FFXII because of the battle system, but it was very easy because I move from Turn based was like o_O;, Then it turned out to be normal and it has a wait mode too.
