Today Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto gave his keynote speech and even though we weren't expecting any new info we were given a few things to chew on. For most of the presentation we were given the "evolution of gaming" lecture and the branching out to non-gamers bit. It wasn't until the end that we got something we were truly interessted in.

To start Miyamoto announced that he was working on a new Mii channel. One where Wii owners could show off their Miis in a sort of popularity contest. We also finally learned the fate of Super Mario 128. Turns out bits and pieces of it have already been released in Pikmin and that other parts of it will be incorporated into Super Mario Galaxy. And while we're on the subject of Super Mario Galaxy, Miyamoto said that we would be able to play the game this year. But don't forget that this is the man who said we'd have said game within 6 months of Wii's launch; but with Nintendo delays are never a surprise and are almost expected.

It's really too bad that Nintendo won't give us more info about how the rest of the year will unfold but I guess it was good to hear that Galaxy would be in stores by the end of the year. I'm personally not that excited about the new channel but I guess those people who keep telling you how awesome their Mii collection is will finally have to put their money where their mouth is.

While at GDC Miyamoto also picked up the GDC Lifetime Achievement award for all the work he's done through the years. I don't think I would've been able to find a more deserving candidate.

huh?

Um, whats Super Mario 128?
It had been the next big mario game. But now it's Galaxy.
It was actually more of a prototype and tech demo to show off the GameCube's capabilities way back at E3 2001 I think.
Well it figures we'd be shortchanged on info. Sure a new Mii channel is coming out and he has "said" that Mario Galaxy would come this year but what else? Of course I love the new video and pictures of Mario Galaxy but... You see, even though they said that not much would be mentioned I foolishly still had hopes that at least one announcement would blow me away!.... Now I'll have to wait to E3 and see what happens there.
*Sigh* More waitings...more and more waiting...Why have I become use to waiting? O right...I'm a nintendo fan... >.>
but the waiting makes us more found of what does finally come Smile
After making us very angry for needing to wait. Toungue
Well in all fairness, this time Miyamoto has to keep his mouth shut by request, remember? Something about Nintendo's shares.
Ya that's the truth. Plus with that whole Gamespy and Nintendo thing and that online stuff I'm too happy to care! Psycho Happy
