what they hell is with all these damn versions of mario. just have mario in unlockable costumes, that change his moveset and everything. for example mario can have the doc suit or the liquid/shadow mario suit with different movesets. this way there isnt this issue of clones or taking up spaces for other characters. this will never happen but its better than what what any of you have said.

yes they'd have different movesets, that'll will change based on the costume, but it doesnt necessarily mean that they "have" to be different characters.

yes its possible to apply to concept to other characters, but no else is a varied in "personalities as mario." and besides it mario he deserves somthing special.
well, luigi would have the vacuum luigi that he was in luigi's mansion; link could have y. link and normal link, and maybe wolf link; fox could have his staff from starfox adventures, etc.
No, no, no, no. Stop making them work harder on things that aren't needed. Costumes should just change the way a character looks, not their move sets.
Of course, if they can spare the time to work on it once the important things in the game are complete then they can feel free too.
Otherwise they should focus on new characters rather than Costume Clones.

She was a costume, but still played like Peach, had the same moves as Peach, WAS peach.
