For the week of February 26th to March 4th, the DS Lite once again came out on top. (Durr.) But, the PS3 put in a respectable showing, selling twice as many units as the week before and catching up with the Wii — Perhaps thanks to the country's top selling software Gundam Musou. Here are the full figs:
* DS Lite: 111, 814 units
* PSP: 66, 156 units
* Wii: 57,972 units
* PS3: 44,000 units
* PS2: 15,364 units
* Xbox 360: 3,379 units
* Game Boy Micro: 805 units
* Game Boy Advance SP: 738 units
* GameCube: 303 units
* DS: 112 units
* Game Boy Advance: 25 units

lawl, no one wants a 360.
I think the Wii will always be on Top though.
we'll wait and see, but "always" in an awful long time
i'm saddened that the DS is selling so horribly. makes me feel inferior when i don't have a Lite
i'm not so surprised the PS3 sales picked up. Japan is a pretty big supporter of Sony for awhile. it was only a matter of time before the right time and right game launched the PS3 numbers
well, it really doesn't make any sense for the DS to be selling well when someone could go out and buy a better DS lite
and yes your right about Sony sales. it normally takes one good game to get things rollin'.
PSX = FFVII
PS2 = GTA3
PS3 = whatever Japan thought was so important (Gundam, Resistance, w/e)
i suppose it's usually that way though. XBox was Halo, Gamecube was Wind Waker and Metroid Prime, and Wii was Twilight Princess
I think Gamecube was RE 4, but anyhoo....If one really thinks about it Sony has no where to go but up. What they need to do is tell all their Presidents of whatever to SHUT UP...and get a really good spokes person who has some charisma, and can be straight with people about what's going on. No more arrogance.
so you think another Reggie Fils-Aime would save Sony?
It wouldn't hurt, but I'd hope Sony would have the good sense to hire someone who's name didn't need a translation

Anyone think that maybe sales doubled because there aren't enough Wii's available?
And also the Japanese love that sheit!
let's look at this as if it was in the U.S.
Someone wants to buy a Nintendo Wii for $249.00
They can't because Nintendo isn't shipping enough to keep up with demand
That same someone decided to buy a PS3 for $499.99 or $599.99 instead
Either the person is really impatient or they have lots of money, because as we all know there's a big different in price between the Wii and PS3.
So I doubt if less Wii's on the store shelves are driving people to spend the extra cash for a PS3
i dunno. i've seen it happen in GameSpot before. ask for a Wii, no go. ask if there are PS3s then and buy one.
that shouldn't cause sales to go up in just Japan though. US does gaming more so it should apply to US instead of Japan
what do you mean that U.S. does gaming more. Japanese are fanatics when it comes to gaming...
U.S. will just piss and moan cause the graphics aren't quite right
They sold double? O so they sold 2? Wow!

J/k.
check out the sales numbers. US just buys more systems overall. they may get into it more over there, but US still spends more when it comes to system sales
oh Nomad..."over there" they get the opportunity to buy pirated stuff
I once saw a working DS in japan made out of two crackjack boxes, some duct tape, and a 9 volt battery.
can i get one of those? my doesn't work now. i'm guessing becaue i used just caramel popcorn boxes instead of name brands
the cheap stuff doesn't work because there's such a low level of mercury...I'll see what I can find you.
Well, im rooting for Gameboy Advance
Here are the current prices of Pirated Wii games in Bangkok - from $1.50 to $2.50 and XBox360 games are from $1.50 to $2.50 as well. There are not any PS3 pirated software currently but it's just a matter of time. I want to go more into detail but see my above post closely.
