Though there wasn't much shock involved when Rockstar Games confirmed Grand Theft Auto 4 would be coming to both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Rockstar's controversial franchise drove an enormous amount of PlayStation 2's popularity the generation before -- could this affect the PS3 going forward? Sony exec. Phil Harrison spoke with a number of bloggers on the subject, including IGN, and didn't seem worried:

"I don't think PS3 has the install base to support Rockstar's investment in GTA IV on its own," said Harrison. Reinventing a sandbox-oriented series on next-generation platforms can't be a cheap endeavor, so while PS3 plays catch-up with Microsoft in terms of userbase, Rockstar must unsurprisingly cover its bases and ensure they're reaching the maximum amount of gamers when GTA4 releases this October.

Both versions will be receiving exclusive downloadable content when the game drops in the fall -- could we be seeing future exclusives in this form?

I was never too much of a fan of GTA, but at the end when you are talking about the downloadable content, does that mean each version will get their own different types of downloads?
we'll i was kinda surprised with sony's response...they usually have some sorta lie...its good to hear them say the truth...even if it was so basic. Good for sony.
Maybe Sony's turned everything around now that GDC has passed. They're even handling their PR a little better.
Yup, they seem a lot less arrogant these days.
Perhaps they gagged certain Sony workers who can't keep their feet out of their mouths. I'm glad to see how they handled this situation and they'll get more respect for it, at least from me.
In my opinion they should have a REP and they should do all the talking. Otherwise you get a whole lot of people with different personalities making potential asses of themselves and the company they represent.
