Agreed, UMD is terrible, but Sony isn't the only one who's has issues with media. I remember when everyone was mad about the N64 using the more expensive cartridge. Plus I remember a little something called Virtual Boy....sadly enough....I owned one

In my best buy flyer it says the PS3 60 GB, is $699.99 The normal Canadian One is $549.99.

Just (just!) as I was coming to terms with accepting the fact that, yes, I do have to get a PS3, and maybe it will actually be worth the money when I have saved up enough to get it, the price goes up by $100+!!!

I think this question has been answered. Maybe the best thing to do is call your local best buy and ask why this has taken place. If they cannot give you an explanation, then emailed a corporate office or regional manager would be good also. That might sound like a lot of work, but most if not all the info should be found on your Canadian Best Buy website.

I dont think anyone will be able to afford a PS3 in canada now, they werent selling well, in the first place, but I guess the Canadian $ Did go down, but why doesnt Sony just lower the price, since Canada is still a big enough Country.

It's hard to compare price changes and such because the of difference in currency. For us, $699.99 Canadian is still cheaper then our $599.99 U.S. price, but if the price did go up because of a currency decrease in value...well that's kind of sad. Being that I'm not from Canada, I honestly know nothing about price changes due to this circumstance.

BTW you convert the U.S. price of the PS3 ($599.99) in Canadian dollors it comes out as $706.63. So it seems that Canada had it good before, and now someone is just making the appropriate correction to prices. Again from the article above, this doesn't seem to be a new thing at all.
