With all this talk of whether PS3 Home is ripping of the Wii Miis, it's interesting to hear Shigeru Miyamoto say that the concept has been around for twenty years now.
We've been working on this idea of 20 years and never been able to turn it into much of anything. The view was it would be very popular with creative artists. But the view was it was too complicated and would make most players frustrated.
An interesting thing Shiggy said there. They've been developing Miis since the days of the NES? Cool.

Wow that is awesome! Ha so it is totally Nintendo's idea.

Yeah, I thought that comment was interesting as well. 20 years! Before some of the gamers on here were even born! Well it's good that we at least get it now. Now let's hope we get even more. (yes, I'm greedy)
hah. I can't agree with you more, manaburn.
I think Shig was using a hyperbole there (over exagerating). I strongly doubt Nintendo had even mentioned anything similar to Miis that long ago. Maybe during the N64 and GCN but not NES or SNES.
I can see it. Nintendo always has some great ideas. They probably had the idea but it would have more been an avatar type system if they were to use it back then and probably thought the Wii would be the perfect system to utilize the creation of Miis (Or whatever theor 'code' name was.)
wow 20 years! thats a long time
I can see it too, get a cartrige, "Me NES", and you get clothe and make people in an 8 bit world, just imagine Mii'd with less features and 8 bit.
So what does it say about a company who has an idea and it takes them 20 years to actually make it happen. That is if we are to believe that the 20 years thing is real?
I love Nintendo and I love the idea behind Mii's, but something like that doesn't really happen until you go online with your system, and the Wii is the only REAL Nintendo system to have any online ability.
*yes I know the gamecube had a modem and a lan adapter, but Nintendo didn't really even try to use it.
It would be like myself claiming that I originally thought about the SUV, but had no resources or means to produce one
