GDC has come and gone. what were your impressions? what games have got you giddy like a little schoolgirl? what made you swear off "xbox not 4 lyfe, y0!"

here are mine:
first, my most anticipated xbla game. Every Extend Extra Extreme aka E4. oh mah gah! i love everything Q? makes and i also love a good puzzle/*shmup game. this game was released for the PSP, but from reading the interview with Mizuguchi, the xbla version seems to be the one they originally invisioned. im so hyped for this game! speaking of shmups did any of you hear that Raiden IV is headed to the 360?! [btw, team fremont's podcasts are really good. give them a listen] going back to Q?, Mizuguchi also let out that the 360, or the ps3 even, could be getting either new/sequels or revamped works of Space Channel 5 and Rez! omg Rez! if you havent played this, find a dreamcast or ps2 and play it! great great game!

next, my most anticipated 360 game. Mass Effect. i love sci-fi. i love bioware's games. one of my all time favorites was MDK2 for the dreamcast. of course there was also Knights of the Old Republic(xbox) aka KOTOR. KOTOR2... i didnt like that one so much. for those who've been living under a rock, check out the brief interview with the creators of Mass Effect here.

and lastly, there's a couple of *JRPG's that will be headed to the states during the holiday season. Blue Dragon with an arty style very *kawaii and a classic gameplay/fighting style that JRPG's are known for. the other game made by the same company, Mistwalker, is Lost Odyssey. this game is more geared towards the western market with it's gritty emo look and use of the unreal engine. yep, the same engine that was made by Epic and used for their little game, Gears of War. personally, i was a little upset i didnt hear anything about MY most anticipated JRPG, Eternal Sonata, but GCD is more for the developers than it is for the public/gamers and news media...Game Developers Conference! Eternal Sonata is basically about the famous music composer, Chopin. "On October 17, 1949, Frederic Chopin, one of the most influential composers for the piano, succumbed to sickness and died at the young age of 39. Three hours prior to that, in the world according to this RPG, Chopin saw a dream of a fairy-tale land populated by people with incurable diseases but also magical powers."-IGN. the art style, cel-shaded/anime, is what really draws me in and im sure the soundtrack for this will be amazing. definitely looking forward to this game.

ok, last game. i swear!
my most anticipated sim-driving game was shown at GDC. Forza Motorsport 2!!! i used to be a huge Gran Turismo and TOCA fan, but this game just does so many things right! one ofthe cool things about the first Forza was how you could paint your car and add whatever graphics you wanted to it. i also loved the tuning/tweaking aspect of it. i spent most of my time doing that than playing the f'in game! Here's a screen cap from one of my cars in Forza. i called this great piece of work "NSX Cutie". its an NSX tagged with the band, Death Cad for Cutie, all over it. on the hood is th famous sunflower skull from one of their venue posters. anyway, Forza 2 seems to have all that again, but of course, revamped and looking better than ever. head on over to gamespot to check out a 30 minute video feature on the game from GDC. the developer shows off the game's physics, graphics, sounds, and a couple of other features. here's the link to the game. scroll down a bit and click on "Forza Motorsport 2 Video Feature 1". prepare to be blown away, car nuts!

*shmup - shoot-em up. games like ikaruga, raiden, r-type, geometry wars, et cetera.
*JRPG - Japanese Role Playing Games. games like Final Fantasy...need i continue? lol
*kawaii - all things cute/cutesy in Japanese culture.
There wasn't a ton of new info at GDC but my impressions anyway:

- Mass Effect is also my most anticipated 360 game. This is what next-gen is supposed to be: gorgeous graphics, huge areas to explore, long hours of gameplay, and the ability to take the story in many different directions. Really an evolution of KOTOR, my favorite Xbox 1 game. BioWare is quickly making itself into the premiere RPG developer in the world (and they are based in my hometown).
- not really that excited for Forza 2, only because I'm not a huge fan of simulation racing games. Looks like they're trying real hard to create a Gran-Turismo killer here though.
- it appears that they are trying to make Fable 2 to be everything Fable 1 was promised to be (and hopefully much more). It sounds like they're taking the dog thing a little too seriously though, hopefully it won't take away from the gameplay.
- Blue Dragon. Meh. Maybe its the cartoony graphics that turn me off but this RPG doesn't look that interesting to me. Lost Odyssey looks more interesting, if not a little bit cliched for an RPG.
- the 360 has a killer lineup this year and thus I was a little disappointed we didn't see more from some of the other big hitters (Alan Wake, Too Human, Halo 3, BioShock, Unreal Tournament 3, Two Worlds, Resident Evil 5, GTA4, etc.). It is only GDC though so I guess you can't expect too much.
the only games im wanting for the 360 are guitar hero 2, GTA 4 and Forza 2
I want to know more about Gates with Live anywhere and IPTV [Live television through your 360]
I'm excited for the TMNT live arcade game going up tomorrow.

There wasn't a ton of new info, but I could easily name 10 games that are coming out this year that will be worth buying.
