Does anyone know if any of the Wii modchips will allow internet capacity or something along those lines. I'm also thinking of buying a mod chip now, do you guys think I should buy one yet? If so which one do you recommend (:

Hopefully you are not buying a modchip to play downloaded games. I will post some information for you with the notion that you have no illegal intentions in mind. The current best Wii modchip is the WiiKey and yes you can still use the internet with it and it's not detectable. It also has room for improvements via downloads that can be burned on basic DVDs.
no current modchips can be detected because they are only 'drivechips', they only patch the dvd drive code upon insertion of a disc. I don't see how they can mess up any internet capability.
I for one can't wait until they can get the wiifree open source chip code working for import games.
They won't affect online play but it is possible that if he/she plays copied games that are meant for online that Nintendo will have a way to patch so that copied games wouldn't work. Much like PC games that are copied but the seriel has already been registered. You could play it offline or on LAN but not online.
i said IMPORT GAMES!! maybe soon.
My reply wasn't to you big_al. He was asking if mod chips would affect him going online with his Wii.

I think I would wait a while before get a modchip! but I here they have at least one modchip out
