Have you ever wished your Wii could do more and make your life easier. Gamers have asked for their Wiis to be capable of playing movies, playing music, using the internet, telling the weather, telling the news, and much more. Some of those wants have become real and the others may see their day in the future but for now there is the possibility that your Wii will gain other features that haven't been mentioned before.
Takeshi Shimada of Nintendo said that they are working on a "text-to-speech tool that can read news and weather headlines out loud. The feature can also be used to read e-mail and system messages." This additional feature would make life easier for us but isn't the Wii all about getting involved and movement. I mean that's the point of the whole control scheme of using the Wiimote's built in sensors to make you feel more like you're in control, isn't it?
Shimada also goes on to say that "Wii motion sensing could get an upgrade that learns from your movements and predicts your next action." So now not only will the Wii be capable of reading me a bed time story, it will read my mind as well! Perhaps after I've completed a game it can play through the game for me again by knowing what I'd do in every situation. So I'd go from being really involved in the gaming experience to watching the Wii play itself? Well, it won't exactly be like that or I at least hope not but this is interesting to say the least.
The third upgrade is one that has already been reported on and that is the addition of the Mii Popularity Channel, which already has a release date in Japan. If you want to read more on that then you can check out Popular Channel coming April 29th by Wenis.
How do you guys feel about these upgrades? Are they something you'd like to see or do you feel they're a waste of time and Nintendo should be working on bigger and better things?
