My wiimote won't sync with the wii
in the middle of a game the wiimote stopped working
i tried changing the battery multiple time
the 4 lights on the bottom still come on but it never syncs
so i have no idea whats wrong

Try using the "hard sync" by taking off the battery cover and pressing that little red button after you press the red sync button on the Wii. It might have lost the association for whatever reason.
If all else fails, buy new wii-mote, take old one back in new packaging claiming it doesn't work. congrats you got a new wiimote.
sometimes mine acts sketchy too. ch3mion was right... try to hard sync several times. turn your wii off and on and sync and hit the a button until something ends up working. it has happened to me about 2 or 3 times before. frustrating, i know.
I had a similar problem at my friends house. At random times the Wiimote would turn off, all I had to do was press any button and it would turn back on though, all synced up.
He claims it happens when you swing the remote to fast or something, I think it's defective...
Mines broken to, freakin' sister wasen't wearing a wrist strap, bam, hits the ceiling, now it turns off at random, and malfunctions, I tryed syncing it, getting new batteries, nothing, maybe I can send it to Nintendo and get it replaced for free! :p (But for some reason, it only seems to do this during Wii sports!)
hmm... My friend only had wii sports, so I wouldn't be able to test this...
I had that problem only once, when I first got my Wii. I did the 'hard sync' and it was fine after that. Never had a problem since then (other than needing to recharge my batteries).
I've only had major issues when the battery is low, which makes sense. I've found though that in the living room, where the tv is by a window, I have a terrible time with my Wii-motes turning themselves off, but when playing on the HD tv, there's no issue....I think there's a lot of those "not spoken about" issues, that will probably be address in the next revision to the Wii-mote
mine just died on me well i was playing sonic and the secret rings. it turned off and it never turned back on. i changed the batteries and still nothing not even the lights turn on. i guess i need to go buy a new remote.
They've had these problems since they first came out dont worry it fixes after a bit just leave it alone let it chill and stuff same happened with my remote so i layed it down went to town came back and viola!
sometimes helps to just unplug your Wii, plug back in, turn on and try syncking again and so on. helped me a few times
ive had the same problem before. i tryed resyncing it over and over again pressing both red buttons, but i just pressed the reset button on the wii and when i just pressed 'A' it synced.

This problem is only with the first batch of Wiis & Wiimotes, Now that problem shouldn't be there. I usually just take the batteries out and then put them back in
If its a manufactoring problem, couldn't you get Nintendo to replace it for free?

yep. happened to me too and this is what i always do. unplug, replug, turn wii console on with wii-mote.
