Spanish Wii site RevoGamers (translated by Google) has posted a whole list of rumours, which apparently come from an inside source, but are highly contentious.

GameBoy successor cancelled

Nintendo had been working on the ´Gameboy Advance Next´ which was to become a third pillar (alongside the Wii as a home console and the DS as a portable). The handheld was to feature hardware comparable in power to that of the GameCube.

It was to offer online gaming and downloadable titles, do away with physical media altogether and be compatible with the Virtual Console. Apparently, concerns over media storage and too high a price point caused the project to be scrapped.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DS successor in the works

Nintendo is working on ´Project 3´ which is to become the successor of the DS. It will be a handheld console without buttons. Instead, it is just one big touchscreen, comparable to Apple´s ´iPhone´.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New Miyamoto IP

Miyamoto is working on a new IP on a similar scale to Zelda. It is codenamed ´The Rise of Darkness´.

It is said to be an online-only title, perhaps an MMO. Miyamoto wants every day to be different in the game. An older rumour on the same site pointed to a game that mixed elements of the real world with science fiction and spritual elements, loosely inspired by Buddhism. Gameplay-wise it was described as mixture between Zelda and Shenmue.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nintendo developing MMO

More talk about an online game, codenamed ´Project Live´. This sounds very much like an MMO. It is said to be a big city, in which you can kidnap players from another team and leave clues for them to find you. No word on whether this is connected to Miyamoto´s new IP.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Miis used in future games

´Animal Crossing´ on Wii will be based on Miis, ´Mario Party 8´ and even the Wii version of ´Mario Kart´ might feature them, as well.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

More channels coming

The next Wii system update will feature both a ´Movie Channel´ and a ´Talk Channel´. No further information is given other than the names. Also, there will be some improvements to the ´Mii Channel´, as far as I can make out.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Brain training may become dedicated channel

Some talk about a game that is based on the Latin phrase ´Mens sana in corpore sano´ (Latin for: ´a healthy mind in a healthy body´). This sounds very much like Braining Training or Big Brain Academy. Apparently, this could become a channel of its own.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wii mic takes shape

The Wii microphone will plug into the controller, just like the Nunchuk extension.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

N64 blockbuster titles coming to VC

´GoldenEye 007´ and ´Donkey Kong 64´ will make their appearance on the Virtual Console this year. Apparently, the contracts between Nintendo and developer Rare work in Nintendo´s favour. It looks as if no other Rare games will become available, though.

Also, ´Star Fox 64´ (aka Lylat Wars), Ganbare Goemon (aka Legend of the Mystical Ninja) and ´Mischief Makers´ will make it to the Virtual Console soon.

Wicked rumors abound, but some or all would be rad developments

so says drew
I'd say some of them are highly unlikely. Why would Rare only release Goldeneye and DK64? Battletoads would probably be one of the most downloaded games. Plus I doubt Rare would release any of their games if Nintendo's making a killing off them.

A controller with no buttons at all sounds interesting but from my experience with gadgets like this they are not so great for gaming. (IMO)

This just sounds totally awesome yet too good to be true, which more than likely it probably is or it will never see the light of day. Cool concept but probably not gonna happen.

I can't believe this would be a Nintendo project. A game where you kidnap people... They try to overprotect the gamers and this just sound like something that they aren't.

Movie Channel = Preview Channel? Talk Channel = Chatroom?

I will never believe this until Nintendo makes the annoncement. I'd love for this one to be true as I want Goldeneye so bad but I just don't see it. Donkey Kong 64 and Star Fox 64 are much more believe for me for some reason...

Nice find, rumors or not. Let's see what comes out of them or are they ALL really cruel APRIL FOOL JOKES!

ohhhh, that would be sooooo mean

eh...wait for official announcement...but it would be cool to finally be able to play Goldeneye 007. (noob who never played Sad )
*heart breaks*

Why Rooster? Why? Goldeneye is the best.

*dies*

Anyway, incorporating Miis into MP8 and Mario Kart would be dangerously cool. Too cool for me to even fathom.

Also a MMO like Zelda? No. It takes ALOT of power to even make an MMO with real-time combat such as Zelda. Power the Wii doesn't have.
well, i can see DK64 on the VC because Nintendo owning rights to DK, so maybe part of it was that Nintendo owned the games featuring DK. not sure how that flies with Goldeneye though. maybe Rare just screwed up and Nintendo technically owns that one. it happens.

i love the MMO ideas. i would totally get into those.

most of the others are just kinda odd and/or worthless to me
I am really up for an MMO, as long as I don't pay monthly. >.>
The kidnapping thing seems.. fake.

I agree with ManaBurnX about the touchscreen handheld, limits possible games... Since the best touchscreen I've heard of can only follow two different points...
Yeah, I'm cheap and I refuse to pay money to pay to play any MMO period no matter how great it is. There are too many free alternatives to change my mind. I'm not someone who can just play when he feels like it so a monthly charge sucks for me. There may be weeks that I don't even get to play and would still be paying. Free MMO and I'm there!
I'm totally with Mana & Charmander. MMO for free....I hate rumors. They get me so amped up.

Goldeneye with online multiplayer. Oh please oh please.

READ THIS NINTENDO. MAKE IT HAPPEN!
I still have the original Goldeneye on my N64, absolutely one of the best games ever made. It's godly, I would love to see how well it would do on the VC. I bet you it would jump to the top immediately.
with the gameboy thing...honestly with the DS I see no reason for that. they did come out.
The next DS should still be several years off.

As for the rest of them, sound interesting. Didn't Nintendo say they weren't going to be making any MMO's in an older interview? That would shut down that Miyamoto rumour... but I believe he was meant to be making a new 1P.

As for the VC... Rare, give me "Battletoads" dammit!!
DS is doing way too well for them to be thinking of a replacement. And some of it's capabilities have yet to be taken full advantage of.

I like the brain training dedicated channel. That would get people to power up the wii nearly everyday, do their brain training without having to switch out some other game they are playing. That's one of the best channel ideas I've heard yet.

I'm sure Miyamotos got some new ideas brewing, but I feel like they will gravitate toward a more broad user base rather than something for more hardcore gamers, given his keynote speech and other things he's been talking about. But it would be a nice suprise to have another deep adventure game. Then again, these concepts could just apply to the new wii Zelda.

MMO? eh, don't hold you're breath.
I love golden eye! I'd love to see donkey kong country 2 on VC! I just can't wait to play. keep up the good work!
heard goldeneye was pretty good game, wonder how it would hold up now though, with folks having played lost planet, gears, and resistance
Golden eye was a classic FPS!
It may have been one of the few great FPSs that actually transformed the style of game! If it had not been for games like them, we wouldn't have gears, lost planet ad so on!
I can say that Star Fox 64 is no Rumor... at least for Germany... the VC games are tested by the USK in Germany before their release... and the results are shown public.

(USK is the thing that in Germany rates the games just like the "E", "T" and "M" ratings in the US... but the USK is much more demanding)

If you want I can search for the result, but at the moment I'm too lazy xD
never played starfox either, did i miss out...wait maybe i should just read mr luben spolight on...

*runs and reads*

ohhhh....okay
dont we all wish those we true.
