O ya!!? well we have American Idol!! beat that! o and also the All American Rejects. and Family Guy, ps: also American Dad.
Im sorry to say but you canadians are infact, AMERICAN. You live in North AMERICA, therefore you are not only Canadian, you are North American. People in the USA are Americans and North Americans.
Whay do we call them "Asians"? Or "Africans"?
Becuase most people don't know all the countries of those continents.

Well, maybe not Asia, I'm pretty sure most people should know the countries of Asia. People are just too ignorant, and when they hear "Asia" automatically think "Chinese!"
Point proven becuase you wrote Chinese, why not Japanese, filipino, or one of the other counties of Asia?

Point aside, "American" is linked to the US of A, that's what they call themselves. If they where calling themslves that by there continent, why wouldn't they say North Americans? Because they aren't refering to the continent, but the country which is the US of A.

And I am personally shocked at your comments. That's racisim, and ignorence.

It seems I have been beaten to the ignorence dispute >.>
We have an even gayer version of it called Canadian Idol. Just when I thought nothing could be worse than just American Idol.
WE ARE CANADIAN.

Yes we are NORTH AMERICAN. NOT AMERICAIN.

I also agree with Char.

You can call us North Americans, yes, but not just plain American.

ha ha ha lol watch this clip about Canada: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmF_OWo9BIg
ihavewiiproblems has solidified my point.
I believe the disagreements here stem from the differences in regions. People from the USA would not call people from Canada "Americans". However, people from countries of Europe may call Canadians "American" just as people from North America generalize people from Britain, Germany, France, etc (Europeans), Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran, etc (Middle Easterners/East Asians), China, Japan, Korea, etc (Asians) and so forth. People native to those areas do not use those generalizations, but people from another area may.

I'm racist by pointing out the reference between Canadians and syrup?

Anyways, I dont know why you guys can't get it through your head. Canadians live in north America, hence they are American.

Say USA=Kenya and Canada=Egypt. USA would then not only be Kenyans, but Africans. Canada would not only be Egyptians, but Africans.

I live in kansas, thats like me saying that I am kansas and not american, because I only label myself by the State in which I live in, and not the country. Same thing goes by labeling yourself just by the country you live in, and not the continent.

I suggest we lock this thread before it gets into an all out flame fight, I don't want to abuse my "Fire Blast" Technique...

And that the reason I hate Family Guy, so dam racist.

Cuz you know us Americans would win lol

Like z6 said, it's the generalisation from people in other countries. But I also feel it's confusion about the difference between Americans from North America and Americans from the US. Why couldn't you guys have picked a less confusing name for your country? Toungue
Wenis... you just don't get it.
Look, don't get all upset, I'm from Poland, a Pole.
I'm just putting up my view that canadians =/= americans. Yes, canadians = North americans, but not americans. Americans could range from Peru to Canada for all I care. You don't see anyone call people from south america "americans" do you?

You are so ignorant!

Do you live in Canada? No. You don't understand.

So apparently theres something about living in Canada that would make me understand your point of view? and you are calling ME ignorant
So how about this: would you call someone who lives in Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, or Chile American because they live in south AMERICA? Probably not...

Its because Americans and Canadians are countries that are friends with each other and somewhat affect each others economy. Americans try to keep Mexicans out.

You don't know what it's like to be a Canadian and can't know what our point of view is. Which is why we are telling you.

We are not AMERICAIN. That's all I feel that I have to say as I have already proved my point.
