Much has been made about the customizability of the PlayStation Home experience, but we won't really know to what extent Sony will be allowing users to run wild until the beta test starts in a few months time. Based on what Phil Harrison told quasi-official blog Three Speech, however, they'll be allowed to upload whatever content they like into their own home, and it's up to offended users to filter and manage their friends list accordingly.
If random friend SilverSurfin38 from Resistance: Fall of Man invites you in to check out his latest MotorStorm trophy and has Jenna Jameson rocking the television, that's for you to take care of, apparently.
Comments? Opinions? I'm all for freedom of expression and against censorship, personally, so being able to do whatever you want in YOUR system is all-good in my book.

I'm all for freedom and I really like the sound of this but I have a feeling that a certain someone is going to throw a fit when he sees this. That is if he every finished with what he is already throwing a fit about. This could go wrong in so many ways because minors that play would probably not filter it and then it would be up to the parents. Parents are the ones who need to check and see what their kids are playing, watching, listening to etc... It's not Sony's job or Nintendo's job or Microsoft's job. I can still see this going quite bad though.
I'm sure home will somehow be age restricted so that younger gamers will not have access to adult ones.
They'll find ways around it. Just like viewing porn on the web or an x rated video or R rated movies on T.V.
your right, then maybe parents should keep an eye on what their kids are doing, and not leave them to the television or computer as a babysitter.
Exactly. Nowadays both parents work in many households and leave the TV or computer to babysit for them and then later try to blame games, movies and music for the way their children act. Parents are responsible for their children.
agreed, you wouldn't let your child walk around and hang out with adults, because you might be afraid of consequences, but for some reason, parents don't feel that the internet is a big deal. then when something happens or goes wrong, they yell and scream into tv cameras wanting change.
i just want a little personal responsibility....is that asking too much?
It would appear that Sony is really narrowing their target and hoping to build a very entrenched market audience with 18-25 year old males. Most people below that age cannot afford one, and most people above that age lack disposable income or cannot justify the cost/reward of it. Not to say that some kids will not have a PS3, but instead it seems as if Sony doesn't care if they get that audience or not. They seem to be doing everything to cater to a select group.
Yeah, I agree with that totally. Their high price is way more than kids get for their allowance (I never really got one...). I think you're pretty much spot on with your target audience numbers as well. I'd go with 18 - 35 perhaps as that age group would be interested in it for many than just the gaming part. Some people will actually decide to buy it to get a blu ray player cheaper than if they bought it alone.
