I guess it's good that many of the people who wanted a PS3 got one. It's odd when people complain about this, but it's just the opposite in the States. If there is enough systems to meet demand, then we assume there isn't much demand...period. When there are shortages of systems, we assume that the demand is so high that a company can't keep up with it, and refuse to think that perhaps a company just isn't putting out a lot of systems to keep the "fever" high.
Yeah, in the US, the general feeling is: if it's not sold out, it's not because Sony had more than enough units to meet the demand, it's because no one wants it.
I like flawed logic.
Precisely, we knew about the situation with the Wii. So people lined up for hours and hours on end. But apparently it didn't happen with the PS3.
Which just shows no one was prepared to wait as long as they did for a Wii for the PS3.
Ah well, the point is... the launch in Australia didn't go well.
Nope it's flawed logic to say that there weren't many people in Australia getting PS3's and not mentioning that there weren't many they're at launch. Then we have one person who actually lives in Australia telling us that people were lined up for the system and yet everyone wants to stick by a flawed conclusion. If you want to hate the PS3 go ahead, but don't give half truths and act as if it's God's word.
Really, all of this is speculation.
We'll see by the end of next week how many PS3's were sold.
For comparision's sake:
Xbox 360: +30 000
Wii: ~32 900
Actually, having a shortage makes good buisness sense. It makes the people think its high in demand, which causes them to think its really good, which makes them want to buy it.
So in other words, a shortage is better then having enough, period.
Unless you just release a really limited supply, that just kills your company name.
Can't say I would expect the same here, but for that price (excpecially games) I wouldn't even consider buying it.
1 game, and I've got myself a DS, almost.
1 more game and I've got a fair amout of DS games as well.
Right, and I think that's one of the reasons why people aren't so willing to pick one up in the states. You see them on the store shelves and you just know that they'll be there later should you decide to buy one so you end up not buying one.
