I was cruising Gamespot this morning and saw a one-liner that almost made my heart skip. Basically, there are "talks" about the game going multi-platform. Though nothing is official yet, it would seem that Capcom's moving of DMC4 to both consoles was the crack that will bring the whole dam down.

FFXIII coming to XBox?
I got excited for a moment there, and then I remembered that I didn't like any of the FF's since VIII.
If this game goes multi-platform though, what big name third party franchises will Sony have left?
If this happened it would be the biggest blow dealt to Sony yet and they can't let this get away.
If this goes through, I will be sure I will not EVER get a PS3.
And sony will be lower than THE CAVE.
Yeah if there is still any hope for Sony to turn this train wreck around it will likely be swiftly swept away if this ever comes to fruition.

as much as i love seing sony get their heads handed to them, i think it would give Microsoft too much power, nintendo needs to get square back ASAP

I doubt Microsoft will buy Square. I believe they're mostly owned by Sony making it nearly impossible for FFXIII to come to the 360.

Microsoft buying out Square would inevitably result in Square's death. Look at Rare.
Having said that, I don't think this will happen. Square isn't this desperate yet and they must know their game will move PS3's off the shelves.

Devil May Cry 4, Assassin's Creed, Resident Evil 5, Grand Theft Auto 4, Ace Combat 6, the persisting rumour of Metal Gear Solid 4...These were all huge PlayStation 3 exclusives. Why not Final Fantasy? Sony doesn't own Square Enix like Microsoft owns Rare or Nintendo owns Retro, Square Enix can make games for whoever they want (hence Crystal Chronicles on Wii, FFXI on 360).
With development costs soaring it is too hard to release a major game exclusively for a system that only has a few million users. I'm not saying that it will happen, and I actually doubt that it will, but I definitely think it is possible.

You do have a good point, I must say.
First of all, Capcom doesn't hold themselves to exclusive, they are jerks for that. Capcom are the whores of the gaming industry. Remember Resident Evil 4 being a GCN exclusive? Blargh... so much for that.
As for Square. They have had plenty of chances to make their games multiplatform... but have they? No, because their games move consoles from shelves so they have no real worries. Especially after the high note of FF-XII.
Trust me, this game will be a PS3 exclusive, and so will Versus XIII. Make 360 get its own decent RPGs.
either FF13 or FF13vs will come to the 360. there's no doubt about that. Squenix is also working on an exclusive 360 title. it's some sort of shoorter(not FPS, more like space shooter). it'll probably suck just like the FF port(s) that will head to the 360.
