I don't know if this topic was brought up before but if your sensor bar is broken, there are ways you can play your wii without one

all you need are 2 candles

basically, the sensor bar is 2 clusters of infrared LED's that transmit heat. the cord to the wii is only the power source

anyways, light two candles, spase them about 2 feet apart in front of your TV, and you can still play wii games.
I'm really skeptical about that. The bit about the candles alone is, well, just improbable to me. But on top of that you make it sound like the relationship between the wiimote and the sensor bar is simple. I always kinda figured it was much more complicated than that. At least, it would seem that way.
here's the video

i plan on trying it when i get 2 candles myself
Thats old news.
granny news but still cool i've tried it
Let me give some words of wisdom. Be careful on what type of candles you use and how they are situated near your TV. I had to bring my TV to a repair shop some time ago and I saw a tv where someone had a lit candle on top of the housing. The container (ceramic?) that held it had melted through the cabinet (presumably when the wax had evaporated it heated the cup up) and wax poured all over the insides. It was quite funny to see. Plus candles in general can be pretty dangerous.

Just go to a radio shack (preferably one w/o a child molester working there) and buy some LED's and solder your own bar together. Hell, make it battery operated if you want. You should be able to easily make something.

Radio shack, mmmmmm.

could build a sensor inside the TV and run it off the TV power

makes you wonder if future TV's are going to be Wii-friendly

IT WOIKS!

i think all the sencor bar is is just a light.

thats all the Wii needs....a light!
I've used the menus by just pointing out my window on a sunny day. Wouldn't risk playing a game that way Toungue
But how would the Wii itself interact with the candles to get the cursor on the screen?
actually even if you have a bright enough light near your tv it will act as a sensor bar. that is why they tell you to turn off all bright lights near your sensor bar when playing. also my friends sensor bar came with only one side working. with only the left side of his sensor bar working he he turned on a light that was on the right side on the ceiling, and now his wii works perfectly fine but doesnt point at his screen but points about a few feet to the right of his tv, and works perfectly fine.

The only thing that wire does from the sensor bar to the wii is power the LEDs.  The Wii receives no information from the sensor bar.  The wii-mote reads the light from the two LEDs and interprets its position from that and transfers the data to the system.  (The actual processing of position more than likely takes place in the system I imagine)

It's no different what the type of light is, somewhat like duckhunt. The zapper reads the light emitted from the TV when you pull the trigger (ever notice the ducks turn into white (or some color) squares? You can shoot at light bulb playing duck hunt and never miss with the zapper, assuming the light bulb gives off the same light as the square.

you can make your own with LEDs and 3aaa m=batteries
haha, thoes poor dumb suckers buying the 30$ sencor bar Toungue
The (what do you call five in a row...) post!
Great. As if the demand for the Wii isn't bad enough, now you've given the Amish a way to use the Wii.
