Piplup's lead has gotten smaller

thats because turtwig it amazing.
Turdpig looks lame... but the final evolved form looks kinda cool
But the beginning of the game will probably be hard if you start out with him, until he evolves... I'll just take the easy route by choosing a water and powertraining him and only him

When I was little I thought in my head "Ok so water beets fire, fire beat grass but grass can't beet water...that wouldn't make sense." so i chose the water pokemon. I found out later that grass trumps water but ever sense then I have always chose the water pokemon.
Ive always chose fire... Typhlosion was good because he could use earthquake against rock and thunderpunch against water/bird and fire against bug/grass, he OWNED everything

oh i see. well i'm gonna transfer the Manaphy egg and hatch, and have a water pokemon with my grass starter.
and Typholsion was kickass.
Actually u kno what. im gonna(for the 1st time) actually evenly train my whole party so i dont beat the game in like 5 days... make it a little more fun for once
I have always try to evenly train my main team so they're around the same level and in between I would train other pokemon I caught before finishing the game.
Turtwig -> Grotle -> TORTERRAZILLA

i just work on my starter and one other pokemon, usually a normal/flying mix. pokemon at the beginning of the game usually suck.

you just cant go wrong with turtle.
speaking of 'tortezilla'... do you guys ever nickname your starters? or just leave their original names... personally i leave the original, cuz i can never think of any 'cool' nicknames
I always leave them as they are suppose to be, they are always cooler names anyway.
thats true, giving them nicknames is kinda creepy.
i played 1 game where i nicknamed my team. i never did again after that. trying to keep track of roughly 100 different critters with unique/nonsense names is hard to say the least. i can keep them in order and remember who they are with the original names
The only nickname I ever gave to anything was my Gold version rival... I thought that he was a she and named him Beth lol... It was hard to tell with that long red hair of his >_<
Except I named the first pikachu I got 'pick and chew' thinking i was funny
apparently not

You have to stick with them until you get to the pokemon you really want on your team unfortunately.
