Okay, so I'm admitting I'm a noob when it comes to Pokemon...but I want to pickup Diamond and Pearl for the fact it will work with Pokemon when it comes out on Wii.
Anyone know of a 'cliff note' type of place I can get caught up real quick on the Pokemon front?

Same here. And I've got good news everyone. I'll be getting a DS soon 
. So I'll be jumping from the GBC to DS generations, eventhough I could download Emerald...
Hehe, thats what I did 3 days ago.. Skip from the GBC straight to DS.
Why? Cause the DS emulators don't work

are we so sure trading from older games to D/P is possible? i mean, it's kind of obvious it would be, but how would that work out though? GBA games recognize a connection cable while DS games just go through wireless communicating
Maybe that black bar at the top of GBCs? I know they used it in Gold/Silver...
Or they're gonna dig deeper into our pockets and make a cable that connects to the Headphone socket in the DS and the regular socket of GameBoys.
Charmander is just the coolest one.
The reason why I always pick Water is.. well.. Squirtle was the first pokemon I ever chose. And I've always hated Grass. I ditch them before they even get to their final evolution. Fire is just in the middle.
It's just that fire is the hardest one to pick, you have Brock first (Rock type) Then Misty, (Water) Then Sarg (Electric). No love for the fire types till 4th badge. Water and grass had it easy. I still hate Grass though. They look so awful.
How many new types are there anyway? I'm only up to date with Gold/Silver.

i forgot about the infrared on the GBA though. maybe they can communicate, but a GBC title to a DS title would take some thought

someone had a bad experience with Mewtwo
i loved the elec legendaries. well, actually Zapdos was the only one i got. he was sweet as hell. i generally like flying pokemon and electric. Zapdos was best of both worlds
urg.. I hate flying pokemon.
But you need one.. for fly. I used to get Pidgiot, like Ash, and because I loved pokemon that evolved twice, but then realised that Farrow was much stronger.
OMG, how could I forget Dragonite? I worked so hard to get him. I better not have to go through that again.
Oh, I just don't like Mew and Mewtwo because of their unfair stat gain. I worked so hard to train my beloved Alakazam, only to find the one catch deal Mewtwo is so much stronger? and the lvl 30 Mew has the same stats as my lvl 75 Alakazam? And the fact that Mew can learn any attack.. Rubbish I say.

Well Mew and Mewtwo are legendary Pokemon after all. What were you expecting? And not to mention that Mew isn't even obtainable in any game unless you use cheats or something.
Mewtwo is ftw! But will probably be banned in my matches, not sure what the stance is on Pokemon bans in official matches
