They don't really matter much. Some are useful but a lot are useless.

To the person who said "No items FTL":

Items are there to give inexperienced players advantages over those who don't need them. if they want to play with the big boys, they gotta learn to play LIKE the big boys.

I said that mainly because I want pokeballs, ut I deal with no items.

JC Grabs are uber useful, cuts out that nasty lag from a missed grab. DI saves your life, and makes killing you harder. Pillaring gives Falco another awesome combo option. SHL are essential for anyone who plays Falco. Wavesmashing is a good mindgame, Roy's need to learn it.

The only advanced tech that will be frowned upon are people who SPAM WOBBLES and people who use Peach's Wallbomb to delay a match.

What are SPAM WOBBLES? I'm sure I know what Peach's Wall bomb is: using the Peach Bomber on the walls to get back onto the surface.

SPAMMING WOBBLES... well, you see... its a deadly combo that goes from 0-death and only the Ice Climbers can do it and its pretty much over for you if they grab you and do it. It can go up to any amount of damage... depends on how the IC is feeling.

Lol, I wasn't talking about those particular techs, I'm saying ALL of them. Most of them are character-specific anyway but like I said, I'm not getting into it.

OK i sum it up like this: When playing with friends and jjust relaxing items are fun and are ok but when you are in a tournament the purpose is to find who is the best player using the SSBB characters not who can use the items the best. Case closed.

Ah, that makes sense then. A few of them I was explaining for others... but anyhoo we're not sure how many of those techs will be do-able in Brawl, but I'm hoping a lot of them are... otherwise the hunt begins for new ones.

that's right snare, for freinds its good to have items. for more serious players take 'em off, and i haven't wavedashed in a while, i gotta get back in tha habit of doin' so

DI, Directional Influence.

That can REALLY save your life. If you've mastered it's art.

what do u mean directional influence?

It's pretty much when you get smashed by your opponent and you would usually die, there's a way that you can survive by pushing really hard in the opposite way your flying. I don't know all the little details but it's somewhat like that.

I think LMX had a video on TAGC that had a guy who used it really well.

or i can just sit around and watch because i dont really have the practice in everyone else has and i have a hard time just with wavedashing, let alone that other stuff lmx mentioned that i've never even heard of. i might make a googd whipping boy, but other than that, i don't stand a chance. i can hold my own against lv 9 computers on ssbm and i'm the best person i know, but that's only of about 3 other people that own the game, so that's my excuse. what's wrong with items though. a new aspect of ssbb is the super smash orbs, i can understand everything else, but what's the fun of playing a new game if you don't do anything really new?
